On Friday we had a letter from the council to say they are digging our road up this week. I don't like the sound of pneumatic drills so I'm sure the piggys will be scared to death. We decided to move them into the workshop at the bottom of the garden for daytimes while this work is going on. I have assembled the spare C&C grids into a pen, I also have a puppy pen. I've evicted the spiders out of the wooden boxes they have in summer in the garden runs which can be stuffed with hay to keep them warm. I have spent sometime this morning running up and down the garden with armfulls of fleece hidies, plastic sheeting for the floor etc. We've also got snugglesafes, the workshop is very cold this weather and I'm a bit worried the change in temperature will be a shock for them, we do have two hallogen heaters in there but they struggle to make a difference when it's this cold. We don't have heating on in the house at night so I won't put the heating on in the mornings before they go out. Now I've done all this I'm worried, am I doing the right thing? Moving them out is the lesser of two evils?

The weather is pretty shocking this week.. bad timing eh.... I think it will be much colder overnight so as long as they have plenty of warm stuff in the day it should be fine just keep an eye on temperature, if it is too cold for you it is too cold for them..... You may find the noise is not as bad as you think when it starts so I would suck it and see... sometimes noise doesn't bother them. I have found that when there was road works outside ours didn't care... however if I sneeze they run like a grenade has been thrown :))

I know what you mean about the sneeze.:)) We are having snow flurries. I've got my fingers crossed for a nice deep covering of snow before they start work tomorrow, they'll cancel the work then and hopefully the weather will be warmer next time round!

As @sport_billy says a sneeze will terrify them but the road noises probably won’t be noticed!
My hubby had to go into their piggy house the other day and use the electric drill to secure panelling and wee Tansy didn’t even get out of her lovely cosy bed next to him! In fact, he’d to move her along a bit to carry on the work!

What happened about the roadworks?
Have they c ancelled due to the snow?

Not started yet. I've cancelled everything I was doing this week so I can be here to make a decision if/when. It did say in yesterdays paper that road works may be cancelled as the truck drivers will be used to drive gritter lorries. We are in the middle of quite a long road so hopefully they will start at one end and the noise will gradually creep up on us!
