Hello! My male guinea pig Winnie is about 7-9 months ish. I used to give Winnie about a little more than half of a 1/3 measuring cup because i saw that half of a 1/3 measuring cup is 1/8 tablespoons. And now i just give him half of a 1/3 measuring up. Should i be giving him more ? The reason i’m asking is because in the mornings it’s completely gone and also when it’s time to go to bed as well it’s practically gone. And so in the mornings he acts soooo hungry for them and goes crazy when i get them for him like he’s been starving. But also i know that he loves his pellets so he probably gets excited but i just would like some opinions on if i should i be giving him enough as to where he should have a bit left at the end of the day or is it okay the amount i give him. Sorry! hopefully all of that made sense i tried to word it as best as i could.

Pellets should be limited to a tablespoon a day. So 1/8 of a cup is still too much. He won’t go hungry as long as there’s hay, hay and more hay. That’s what makes up the largest part of their diet. Veg and pellets are a snack. Hope that helps 🙂

Mine 3 get a very strict 1 tablespoon of pellets per piggy per day (so 3 tablespoons) which I scatter feed and they run around to find. They are all very healthy as they spend most of the day chomping on hay, hay and more hay! The more hay you can give them the healthier they will be and they may well have a longer lifespan too.

Thank you this helps 😇

Thank you for your feedback! I love the idea of scatter feeding i think i’m gonna try that as well. Sounds like a fun little small idea!

My piggies pellets have always almost gone by bedtime and the dish is always empty in the morning. I do feel guilty but I try and stick to 4 tablespoons a day and I have 4 piggies x

Does this look like about how much you give each of your piggies?

Remember when they act like they are starving. They are lying. 😆😆.
But they just ate 2 minutes ago. That’s two minutes too long! 😳

I’d say that’s still too much. A pair of mine get about that. Get a tablespoon and use that to measure it out.
