Or did I read a post on hear about gently nibbling your guinea pigs ears to show them you are the head human pig;-)
 
My avatar piggy pumpkin (RIP) was a very bossy pig so I used to very gently nibble her ears when she got a little too feisty with me. It seemed to work quite well.
 
Haha, that's funny, I read that last night and thought the same!

I haven't tried it though! I once gave Bubble a kiss on the head and he didn't enjoy it!:xd: So I don't think he would appreciate a ear nibble!:lol:
 
I've kissed my girls on the nose, but I'm afraid I wouldn't ever lick or nibble their ears. I'd be worried about hurting them, and I don't think it's really hygienic for them!

Umm, I am afraid I did to once to a very naughty piggy who liked to nip. It did actually work after a while. Just a gently nip..it was weird!

I also did it with a horse once who was biting badly. I grabbed her ear and bit it hard and you know, she never ever bit me again (she bit other people but not me!). The other thing I love with horses (along the same vein re animal communication) is if you rub their backs and they like it, they will turn their heads around and mutually 'groom you' back. Although its a bit painful being 'scratched' by a horses teeth! its a huge sign of trust.

Its weird, gross but sometimes you have to learn the way to communicate with them that they will understand and I can on honestly say its worked for me. My little guinea was completely stunned when I first did it....in a kind of 'what the hell!' kind of way. But we had mutual respect after than.
 
I wouldn't nibble our piggies ears... a) Vimto would bite the hell out of me back. b) I am pretty sure in the herd dynamic I am somewhere down the bottom :))
 
I've never had any need to nibble my piggies' ears! :lol: All I do is kiss their ears!
 
I just kiss them lol. When I first read that I thought that The other guinea pig was meant to do it but then I read it again :doh: I would never nibble their ears though as it seems un hygienic, But thats just my opinion :)
 
A little pig fur never killed anyone lol. I swear I think all these mega bugs are coming from everyone being too clean. Well actually there is research that also states that. Anti-bacterial this and that blah blah blah! Germs actually build up our immune systems. Killing all the germs just makes them mutate to be even stronger. I'm not saying you should go out and lick or kiss a sidewalk or an animal bum lol. If you kiss their fur it's the same thing as nibbling an ear. :)

Get a little dirty people it's not gonna kill you.lol
 
Ok now this is tempting me to nibble their ear! Could I not just get a Q - tip wet it with water them pretend I am nibbleing their ear? LOL

Lol no! I don't get their ears wet at all. It's almost like taking a piece of fabric and putting it between two fingers and sliding them up only it's a pig ear. You could actually use your finger instead of your lips lol. I know, I know it's like petting with your lips but no spit. Even though I have licked Kitty's cheek lol. She looks at me so funny it cracks me up( but I think she likes it) she kisses me back. Like over her whiskers front to back quick short licks. She gives me kisses all the time so I wanted to return the favor lol. And I'm still ALIVE! :D

Ha ha, here I thought everyone was thinking it was unhygienic for the piggy! I've not worried about germs FROM my boys, only germs TO them! My Hazelnut likes being snuggled between my shoulder and chin and I can't resist then kissing him on the ears and everywhere else within reach of my lips. He seems to like it.

Lol you're funny :). I don't let my pigs lick my lips, well I try not too Kitty will sneak one in from time to time.

The only thing I know is. I believe we can pass on a cold to them. So if not feeling well I would limit holding or at least kissing and make sure to wash your hands before touching them or their food if you're sick.

Maybe someone can confirm this @helen105281

Not just the pigs, I'm bottom of the pecking order in all things family related, I'm only the mug that works hard feeding and clothing them all and putting a roof over their heads! :eek:

Do you live in the mountains or a state park, Boss? Lol I clicked on where you're from and it took me to a map and it looks like you live out in the middle of nowhere?!?
 
I live on the edge of the Lake District National Park, one of the areas of outstanding natural beauty in the country. ;)

Piggies can't catch human viruses. They can however be affected by germs that accompany our colds. so always a good idea to wash our hands and so on.
