After purchasing my two boys from pets at home 2 weeks ago they have had so many illness's and problems.
- first Elvis had conjunctivitis
- then a sore from them being transported was found on Percy's back
- now both my boys have ringworm
I don't begrudge spending any of the money I have on them because I love them it's just I was told seeing as they have been so I'll I might be intitled to a refund on the money spent on my piggies and the refund money would go towards transporting them to their two week check up for ringworm (as I don't drive) and a consulation for my dog just to get him checked as they have been in contact.

As long as you have a vet bill and a bill of sale to back up your claim, you should be able to get compensation. Best of luck! I am very sorry for your bad start. Some branches are sadly a lot worse than others. :(

Here are our ringworm tips:

Aw, that is a sad start for you all. Do hope you can get it all sorted out and that the guinea pigs are better soon.

I had a problem with Roddy from petsathome and they paid the vet bill having his lump removed as he would of had it while they had him.. I do t know about refunding money but would have thought they would pay for current treatment?! I can only suggest explaining everything to the manager. Go if luck and sorry your piggies have been so unwell

Pets at Home also paid our vets bills when one of ours was found to have an infected wound x

you may not get a refund as such if you want to keep your new babies, but as weibke says keep all the receipts for the veterinary treatment required & the receipt for the purchase of your piggies.
i would also recommend making copies (photocopy or scan the originals) for your records.
Suggest that the store pays for the treatment so far & the ongoing treatment/medications with their current health problems, until cleared up. Also a donation for your transport costs to the vet would be appreciated, as its through no fault of yours the piggies were not 100% healthy when purchased. (keep bus or taxi receipts, they may cough up)

They should only be selling products fit for purpose no defects (e.g. a healthy animal) & the animals welfare has been compromised by contracting the highly contagious ringworm.
i would get your vet to check out your dog & itemize on the (headed paper/surgery stamped) dated bill that it was checked over due to exposure to ringworm.

you will also need to be strict with your own hygiene measures as humans can contract ringworm too.

present your receipts to the manager & ask for payments to be made to reimburse you for the treatments required.
sounds like they are generally quite good at paying bills as all the other posters on your thread have been successful :)

i wouldn't give the boys back to the store for treatment with in house vets if they have them, stick to your own vet if you are happy they are cavy savvy enough. your care will be better i'm sure than theirs!
Good luck & speedy recovery to your boys.

from the girls & I

Ps pigtures of your new babies will always be welcomed :)
xx
