For those who keep boars and sows, have you noticed that boar poops are larger?
I have one boar and three sows (but I've had five sows over time) and Freddie's poops are larger than any of the sows.

I first noticed this 'thing' when I piggy-sat for a friend. She has two bonded boars and their poops were huge compared to my sows. I wondered if it was due to the type of dry food or something, but then Freddie backed up my observations :)

Or is it just me?

The other day my piggies left a mole-hill of poops on the lawn, really huge pile. Almost took a photo. So it's not just you (perhaps I shouldn't be admitting this though ? lol)

EXCELLENT! That's it- "THE PIGGIE POOPERS" club NEEDS to HAPPEN! I do believe I've found my first member aside from myself! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
 
One of my boys has an ongoing condition, but we don't know what it is (even excellent cavy savy vet) and is on Metacam, probably for life. He has times when he'll lose a lot of weight (he's weighed twice daily (always weighs more in morning - not sure why, unless it's because their main veg feed is in the eve). Anyway, his poos can become v small v quickly so I have to monitor them. As it's so difficult to gauge poo size without a comparison, I have to admit to keeping a poo collection :yikes: which I use in helping to judge whether a vet visit is in order. Silly thing is (and I'm sure you can all relate to this) I'm an over-cautious mum, if he's really bad in the evening I'll phone the vets the next morning to get him seen, by which time his poos are suddenly normal and his gut sounds are fine :mal:.
I think baby poos are cute too....but not when they are produced by an adult boar! I need to join your support group...or is it an appreciation club?
 
:DHas anyone noticed that poop shapes and sizes change after the piggie has been "altered"?
My part-time piggie Spirit at first did big curved poops like little frankfurters, but after he was neutered they were smaller and straighter! :eek:
Same with Bonnie. When she was small, her poops were normal shape, but after she was spayed, they turned almost round like rabbit poops and have remained so all her life!
