Hello, was just curious if i am or am not overfeeding Alfie. In the mornings at 7 he gets his hay rack filled with Oxbow hay, also in the mornings at 7 he gets one spoonful of Oxbow Pellets. In the afternoon at 4 he gets his hayrack refilled and uneaten pellets dumped out, at 4 he also gets one cup of veg. Finally, in the evenings at 8 or 9 he gets his hay rack refilled and a treat.

Pic of Alfie being lazy and laying down to eat his hay just now 😂

Sounds about right. One cup veg and one spoon pellets per day is the correct amount. If he was being overfed you’d know when you feel his heft 😏

Is he on his own? If so, he’d really come out of himself if he had a friend to share with.

Hi! yes he is on his own but i am getting him a companion next month

Sounds spot on re amounts, and also sounds like he’s loving the hay you get him if your refilling it three times a day! They love it, they can never have too much hay

No, you are giving the right amount. This is what my piggies get:

(If I'm not working)
9am: Hay refilled, water check, fresh Oxbow pellets, Oxbow Vitamin C tablet and veggies (Romaine, Cucumber, Celery).
12am: Hay refilled, Oxbow Multi-Vitamin tablet.
5pm: Hay refilled, Oxbow Urinary Support tablet and veggies (Green leaf lettuce, Spring Mix Lettuce, either bean sprouts or green beans, Cilantro or Parsley--Parsley is given twice a week). I'm still trying to encourage piggies to eat peppers.
9pm: Hay refilled for the night.

(If I am working)
7am: Hay refilled, water check, fresh pellets, Vitamin C tablet, Multi-Vitamin tablet, and cup of veggies.
5pm: Hay refilled, Urinary Support tablet and cup of veggies.
9pm: Hay refilled for the night.

For the evenings, I like to try new veggies. For example, bean sprouts or green beans, would be replaced with something like fennel or a carrot (once a week). I also like to mix the hay, so that they don't get bored. My piggies get Timothy Western Hay and Orchard Grass hay, both by Oxbow.

P.S: I have the same tie-dye blanket!

Why are your piggy’s getting tablets of multi-vitamins, vit c and urinary support? This shouldn’t be necessary if they are on a good diet and have plenty of hay and fresh water (which yours are).

I agree, but it will not hurt the guinea pig if you do give them tablets it is truly just backing them up:)
I supplement one of my piggys with a vit c tablet because she has a fungal infection and I want to back her up if she gets worse.

I give them Vitamin C and Multi-Vitamins because they don't like most veggies that contain those vitamins (peppers, etc). I give it to them to make sure that they are getting the daily vitamins they need. I give Urinary support to prevent them from getting any problems. :)
