I dont know wether this is normal but Lincoln seems to be asleep all day lately. Its not just that his sleeping its that his not sleeping in his house now it normally with his head on his food bowl. When i walk in he just opens his eyes and looks at me. He'll only get up if i get veg. Lincoln is normally full of beans. Saying this though later on he can be sqweeking his head off and popcorning round his cage. I'm confused :( He still plays me up when iget him out and his eating and drinking fine.
any advice?

Hmm.. some of mine are like this lola is odd she bounds around and all of a sudden goes flat out in a big heap and goes to sleep! lol

a couple of my others are like this.. how old is he? my 2 eldest sows who are nearlyy 7 sleep a bit more than my younger ones and lois doesnt bother waking up when i go in she stays asleep with her eyes shut!

If he seems normal in himself i wouldnt worry too much :)

his only about 1 years old. It really weird *** his never just slept in the middle of his cage before. Maybe its to hot in with his hay or something i dont know. I'm glad its not just him whos does it though

If he is eating and drinking ok and bounding around at other times, then I wouldn't think there was anything to worry about. Actually, when piggies do have a kip in that situation, it is usually because they are perfectly happy and feel very secure in their environment.

However, if you do think he needs to be checked at the vet then make an appointment.

i know this sounds silly but could it be the weather or change in tempreture? its been so dull and gloomy here since the weekend mine seem depressed by it all....like many people would be....are they indoors or outdoors? mine have been out in the run over summer alot and now its cold and damp they have to go inside...but seem to prefer what they are used to lol .x

his indoors. suppose it could be many things. I'm spending more time at home again now so maybe he'll be abit happier about that :) his eating and drinkin fine so I'm not concerned about his health just his state of mind i suppose
thanks:)

true. he might be happier now his mummy is home lol at least he is eating and drinking which must be a weight off your mind...just see how he goes...keep us posted .x

yeah, maybe he's way more comfortable with you at the moment? my pheobe's always slept outside her house. all of mine do now, sometimes with their little legs out behind them! very cute. but go with your gut instincts here, guinea pigs do hide their illnesses until its too late most the time. so if you sense there's something wrong, please go to the vets straight away xxxxxx

yeah a general check up wouldn't hurt either way...at least you would know if he is ok or if somethings up. x

dont feel awful! i doubt he's ill anyway, but if you have a niggling doubt, its best to check

your not an awful owner...don't be harsh on yourself...you have noticed something is wrong by where he sleeps, you love him and take really good care...you have noticed he is not his usual self which means you know him really well. x

keep us posted though with updates on how he is...don't beat yourself up over it...he is probably fine but at least put your mind to rest. x
