Am in total shock.Have just lost Ernie

I just went to go give Herbert and Ernie some evening veggies and just found Ernie, passed away in the hidey.


Was in complete shock. He had obviously suffered diarrohea but had no veggies this morning as they only have it in the evening. He was only 7weeks old. OH checked him over Herbert has definately not attacked him.

Really worried about Herbert I dunno if I'm paranoid but hes drinking a lot this evening. I have been in all day and they were definately running around at lunch time. I only found Ernie about a hour ago.

Herbert seems fine in his self and the pee and poo (he did on my lap) are normal.

So shocked and feel completly imcompetent at keeping wiggles at the moment. I really hope it is nothing I have done. Or do I just accept these things happen? I have only lost guinea pigs to old age before so feeling really pants right now as he was waaaay tooo young to go8...8...8...8...8...

No idea what to do for Herbert either. Do I find him another friend? He bonded well with Ernie?

I'm so very very sorry for your loss. Losing such a little piggy is horrendous, you hardly feel you have had time to love them enough. I'm afraid he may have been born with a problem that doesn't immediately show, it may have been epilepsy or a weak heart for example. It's very hard to tell with a piggy, they can't tell you much.

I repeat, I am very sorry. Herbert will miss him, he will have started to get used to having a friend around, especially as he bonded well with Ernie. For Herbert's sake I would think about replacing Ernie sooner rather than later. That's just my advice mind.

I repeat, I am sorry. RIP little Ernie.:(

These things can just happen - don't blame yourself at all. He could of had something underlying and you weren't aware or what with him being so young something could of come on suddenly and sadly he just went.

See how Herbert is over the next couple of days.. give him plenty of love and snuggles xx
 
Aww, I'm very sorry for your loss. It is really sad losing a young piggy :( Don't blame yourself. One of my piggies died suddenly like that too. He had the diarrhea and a few hours later, was gone.

Don't go blaming yourself, it's not your fault

I'm so sorry hunny :( How awful ..Poor little thing.

Its nothing you have done ..sometimes these things happen :(
 
RIP little piggie, I'm so sorry for your loss. :0:( Please dont blame yourself. Piggies are so good at hiding any problems and unfortunatly they can simply get ill quickly without anyone knowing. Just keep an eye on your other piggie your bound to feel a bit worried about him.

Like others have said don't blame yourself. Just think of all the joy he gave you and Herbert in the short time you had together. Sweet dreams little Ernie. Hugs from me and my girls.
 
I'm so sorry for your loss. Don't blame yourself, sometimes these things just happen.
