Hi there,

I wondered whether anyone knew of any other cavy/piggy shows that go on in Norfok besides the Norfolk Show?

I have just received an application pack from the Norfolk Show, and piggies have to be purebred and all that malarky! It all seems a bit too technical for my liking.

Firstly I have no idea if my piggy Trixie is purebred bless her, and also I dont know her technical breed! Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to exploit her or make money from her, its just that I think she's beautiful and I want others to see that too!

I think she is a Peruvian/Sheltie - she is jet black with crazy long hair. She is just over 2yrs old. She is super friendly until you pick her up - she doesnt like that, but she loves cuddles in her mansion! She even does little tricks that I taught her.

I saw other piggies at last years Norfolk Show, and thought that Trixie would fit right in amongst them all, but as I said - it all seems a bit confusing!

Any info greatly received!

Thanks :)

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

The forum is pro-rescue and we are not allowed to discuss intentional breeding or showing (as the two often go hand in hand). I've seen the piggies at the Norfolk show too, very posh! :) but generally it is quite stressful for pigs that are not used to it, with the travelling etc.

Hope you stay on the forum, lots of useful advice here and we'd love to admire pictures of Trixie - she sounds like she's got fantastic hair!

Oh fair enough, that makes sense. Sorry - didnt realise.

Maybe i'll just have my own Trixie and Sookie show at my house - that way they will both win! And it will definitely be less crowded!

Trixie strangely likes travelling, she's a funny little piggy - very confident and likes meeting new people, only because she gets more fusses. She even seemed to like going to the vets!

Sookie on the other hand, very timid. She is a rescue piggy and is still very wary of humans - but once you get her she loves a cuddle, and now at least she will take food from your hand. Bless her. They are both adorable in their own little ways!

Thanks for the info :)

Some old people's homes and children's wards work with charities to have visits from animals - usually cats and dogs, but some guineas do it too - might be right up Trixie's street!
