Pepperdog
Adult Guinea Pig
Upset or not the simple fact is the cage is too small for 5 pigs, they were not having scraps because they are still new to that particular living arrangement and were busy exploring but give it time and no doubt if they found it cramped before and scrapped, they will be doing it again for the simple fact that there is not enough space.
The reason we recommend minimum cage sizes is to prevent such issues as lack of space fighting and allowing them to move around happily with space to get away from each other. For instance, my pair of boys are in a c&c that is 5grids x 2grids which is actually the recommended size for 3 pigs but I am lucky to have space to give them a bit more, boys tend to need a bit more space anyway so I have provided that for them.
The herd are a group of 4 pigs and they are in a c&c that is 5grids x3grids with a top level extra space of 2x3 grids. This is actually the bear minimum for 4 at the base level but with the extra ontop it is ample room for them and the ability to get away from each other and as my 3 girls are very confident girls there are times when space from each other is needed - they never fight but they do bicker, it never gets any worse as they have the space they need.
Everyone who has commented on the size of cage are not saying so to have a go at you, they have experience to know the importance of space and its not about your living arrangements as plenty of people on here dont have a lot of space but still manage to provide the minimum space required for their pigs. By not doing so you are causing a welfare issue and that is why so many people have been trying to help you get the right size cage
