Amber was one of Ellie's piggies, who came to live with me a few months ago. She was a very beautiful girl with a rather unique appearance, as she was s satin.

I got up this morning to find her in a forever sleep, with her cagemates cuddled up to her. She had been quite poorly, so it wasn't really unexpected, and in a way it was lovely to see that she had passed away surrounded by all her little friends who loved her so much.

Sleep well beautiful girl, reunited with Rosie who went to Rainbow Bridge a few weeks ago! Crater Head, Mini Crater, Phantom and Wheels all miss you so much. x
 
So sorry for your loss. RIP Amber. Hope you find your friends waiting at the bridge for you.
 
So sorry to hear this sad news. She will now be reunited with her friends at Rianbow Bridge. Sleep well little one..
 
You know how sad i was to hear Debbie but what a lovely way to leave, surrounded by her friends who loved her & in her own home

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments! Crater Head, Mini Crater, Phantom and Wheels all seem ok today. I really think it helps when they know what has happened to their cagemate, rather than think they just went away and never returned. Whenever one of mine has died in my arms I always put them back in with their friends, so they can say goodbye.
 
Debbie, I'm so very sorry about Amber. As I said to you, in a way I think it was the best way for her to go - at home, with you and her friends near by. She was very poorly.

Firstly I am so sorry to hear about your loss.8... It doesn't matter whether they have been ill or not, we still miss them like crazy & it hurts when they leave us to go over the bridge.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who lets my other boys say 'goodbye' to their brother who has passed over. I always put the dead pig in the cage & give the other boys time to say their goodbyes, especially when they were 'best friends'. It's hard sometimes to see the other pigs try & wake them up, but it does help them come to terms with what has happened & also lets them know that I have not just taken a pig away for no reason. When my Fudge died at the vets, I took his brothers in to see him. We spent about 20 minutes with him & the vets were brilliant. I think it is so important for the piggies left behind with us.

I have no doubt that Amber is over the bridge being looked after by the piggies who have gone before. Hold onto your precious memories of her & take comfort knowing she is OK now.
