My silly sausage of a pig..

After seeing your sister Iris in pets at home several times over the space of a few weeks, I merely enquired whether you were girls.. having recently losing my beloved Daisy, seeing Iris' lilac bottom made me wonder if you may be related to her and her sister Delilah.

Of course merely asking if you were girls turned into "Well I guess you're coming home with me!" I was pleasantly surprised when they lifted the hide and there you were, the spitting image of Delilah minus the crest with your beautiful chocolate coat, it was clear you both were somehow related to my girls. While you looked like Delilah, your personality was ALL Daisy, all your mannerisms, your little spark, was the same. Oddly enough in a large herd, Delilah was also the first piggy you bonded with, and she was smitten with you. She wasn't entirely sure when she had given birth to a doppelganger but there you were so she may as well enjoy it 🤣

I will forever miss your first "Daisyism" where you threw your head back to look at me, a trick that I had learned would get my nose pierced during nail trims if I weren't careful! Your predecessor taught me that one very well! But it was something you always did when you wanted attention.

You were probably one of my smartest pigs, learning tricks taught to you in the hopes you wouldn't be able to launch yourself over the top of the C&C cage to get your favourite treat (metacam 😅) for your interstitial cystitis. You learned to do a little spin, which was promptly copied by Pippin and Oliver who were pretty annoyed you always got given yours first because you knew tricks..little did they know it was actually because you were a liability to yourself 🤣

I always knew you were smart but you really peaked when you asked me for help one day after managing to shove a grass seed up your nostril. Jumping up and spinning, squeaking and sneezing, pawing at your nose then jumping back up at the bars so I could see. (Sorry it took me a while to figure that out but in my defense, who shoves grass seeds up their nose!?)

Aside from being cheeky, you were everyone's friend, first to lay beside the hospital cages and make sure the resident was OK, I'll choose to ignore it may have had something to do with sneaking critical care out the cup most of the time 🥹 but the second anyone came home from the vets you were first in line to give them a good sniff down and wash their ears to welcome them home and make them feel safe.

Doing jobs around the room doesn't feel the same without you climbing onto my foot, trying to help but being a constant health hazard! Learned or inherited from your likely great aunt Delilah.. my socks, slippers, shoelaces and trouser hems are finally safe and I so wish they weren't.

Your larger than life presence in the room is very much missed, thankyou for such a wonderful 4 years even if they were sadly cut short by either kidney/organ failure or a blood clot. We tried our best and you were so brave.

Sleep well beautiful girl ❤️

What a heartfelt, wonderful tribute to a gorgeous and much loved special piggy. ❤️

Amber was obviously meant to come into your life, into a group that felt like family right from the start and to make all of you feel blessed for having her with you.

What you can never choose is when, what from and under which circumstances the end comes. You can always only cherish the time your pets are with you; but it sounds like you have done that and that you have given Amber the happiest of lives.

I am sorry for the loss of your amazing girl Amber. Your tribute to her is wonderful and the loves shines through you words and the fantastic photos. Be kind to yourself as you grieve 😥
