Amelia has a chesty something... snuffling and snorting a bit...

She lives with six other pigs but she's the only one who isn't 100%... no change in bedding (newspaper, megazorb, readi-grass) and it's certainly not draughty or cold...

Apart from that she's totally normal. I've put a dab of Vicks on her snout tonight... will see how she is in the morning.

Any suggestions?

Hi Charlotte

Sorry Amelia is out of sorts. Could it be an allergy, like hay-fever? Or something up her nose... like a seed?

Hope she's ok. Is her chest rattly?

Hey Sophie,

I don't think it's an allergy... no hay or straw... and she's been fine all these weeks...

Yes, I suppose it is a bit of a rattle, when she breathes in I can hear it...

I'll see how she is in the morning... and I'll look in Vedra's book and the PG books to see if there's any help in there.

Poor Amelia! xoxo

A lot of piggies - and people - are really suffering with hayfever at the moment. Given that Amelia was outdoors yesterday (thinking of pics on Photo Gallery) the pollen may have got to her.

Even a few of my lot have had rumbly/rapsy breathing - it sounds mucusy in the chest. Usually my lot "rumble" for a bit then cough and it clears up, but if they do struggle to clear it I give 0.2ml Sudafed expectorant. It sorted Bree out very quickly the other night and she's not had a problem since.
