Amelia would like you all know that she had her vet appointment today to check on her lump which some of you may have known about as I mentioned it in a previous topic.
It turns out its a sebaceous cyst so in time it'll come to the surface and burst - yuck but thankfully it's nothing more life threatening. The vet also gave her a piggy MOT and he's impressed with her bodily condition, she is blind on her left eye and has a clouding in her right so more then likely loose sight in that too.
He seems to think her head tilt is the outcome of an ear infection that was left untreated however theres nothing that can be done now.

He fell in love with her and she had a good few minutes of cuddles with him

Lol! That smile is a classic, i mean this, i'll never forget that pig! What a charmer! i WANT HIM!

That's good news and as for that picture - she is one of the most beautiful piggys I've ever seen and very photogenic.

I am so glad that the lump is nothing serious after all what stunning Amelia has been through! She has not only beauty, but also personality - no wonder, you would never part with her!

I am very sorry that she is coming down with cataracts on top of it all. Thankfully, it is often a slow process, so a piggy can adjust to it more easily.

When it became obvious that my Mischief's second eye was clouding over as well, I initiated some rituals with her to make things easier on her. I always talked to her before touching her, and touched her very lightly before picking her up, so she could brace herself. She liked to be touched and petted as a reassurance a lot more after she went blind.

As she was still very much roaming the house and the garden with her customary daily "walkies", we actually worked out a system together where she learned to follow my voice with the two commands "come on, come on" when all was going well, and "Uh uh uh" when she was going wrong. She learned to sit still, reorientate herself and set off again or wait to be picked up if she got too confused. More often than not, with that system she found her way to the run on the lawn under her own steam!

Just as a morale booster, I made a little picture story for children about Mischief and her blindness. http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=33420

I'm sending my best wishes to your lovely girl; I'm sure that she will deal with her new ordeal as well as she has with everything else!

She is so cute and smiley, just adorable. Very happy the vet wasn't bad news.

Sorry I missed this earlier, so glad Miss Amelia is doing fine, she is a stunning wee lass truly stunning and that pic melts my heart.
