I try to feed my guineas a bit of every food they're allowed in my fridge every day, but I've read a lot of things about gassy foods and also calcium-rich foods being bad for them.
Are broccoli and cabbage included in these? And how much of foods like this are they allowed daily?

There are no such things as bad foods and good foods, just bad diets and good diets :) Feed a variety of leaves and roots and you should get a good balance. Don't overdo the roots though :)

Guinea pigs need calcium! They have constantly growing teeth. Your guinea will get ill without calcium and its not a good idea to feed a diet low in calcium :) Feed everything except hay and grass in small amounts.

Dry food nearly always contains alfalfa which isn't good for guineas (particularly dried) change to a timothy based pellet like Cavy Cuisine if possible :)

Oh right sorry for some reason I was under the impression calcium was bad for them 98) I must be mixing it up with something else

A lot of people are 'under that impression' but they need it, they just don't need too much- same as anything :)

Too much can give them stones, but they def need it - like karen said, moderation is the key! O0

I beleive in moderation in everything. My piggies get 3 - 4 bowls each of mixed veggies per day. They do not get the same veggie at every meal,or even 2 days running. They get moderate amounts, not great heaps. They are healthy and long lived.I have had no renal problems in the last 3 years.Everything is bad if you have it in excess,in small amounts it can do no harm.

Yep, I spend more money every week on piggies veggies than on my own., despite the fact that I am vegetarian and love my salads.I adore chocolate too,but I have to ration myself otherwise it upsets my stomach.!
