I have seven guinea pigs, and one of my girls Amy (named after Amy Pond from Doctor Who!) just keeps escaping! Her 'adventure' count is five now.
The first time, she was in the run and I took the side panel off to take pictures. She very cautiously came to see what I was doing, and one minute she was in front of me, the next she was half way across the garden! I happened to be lying on a box at the time so I was little use sprawled out like superman flapping about. Dad managed to get her into a corner and I grabbed her. The silly pig tried it again when I put her back - I was ready for her that time! :p
The third time had me hysterical. It was dark and I was putting the pigs to bed. They've got this wooden house that I have in the run and I turn it upside down and put them in and carry it over. I usually put it up against the hutch door and they all hop out themselves. Well, this box is rather heavy. I put it down on the floor and there was the tiniest of gaps between the box and the hutch, and I was just about to push it closer when Amy hopped out, fell down the gap and disappeared! I remembered what my Dad said, about turning the house upside down and chasing her in, so I put the others in and closed the door, then looked for Amy - but it was dark! I couldn't see her and went into a panic. My brother and his girlfriend came out wih a torch and coaxed her out from under the hutch where she was hiding.
Then I was putting her in the run just the other day and suddenly she got a fright and jumped off my lap (she didn't fall far). I had to chase her round the garden! She had quite sharp nails at the time, which is why I think I possibly didn't have quite such a grip on her. I felt awful!
And then, she does it again the next day! Put the box down and the others hopped out, and silly Amy went the wrong way and struggled over the side and onto the patio! She didn't get far, she seemed confused as to why she was on the patio and not in her house!
She's definitely living up to her namesake!
