I just wanted to say I have had a nice afternoon cleaning out and changing the cages a bit more. I got a mahoosive corner litter tray for a fiver so on their food floor they have 2 litter trays one with 2 hayballs hanging over it and one with the hay rack in. No other food stuffs of any kind anywhere else except the top floor.

It's been really relaxing and fun! The girls are all back in and aside from my teddy girl they have given the new tray a wide berth. It's not to be trusted right now. I was hoping to get some new photos too! rolleyes

Does anyone else wile away the hours with their cages, hutches or pens?

yes, i do, but mine isn't just with piggies, i also have a parrot, a group of degu's and hamsters, so i'm always re-arranging their homes lol

But they do seem to like to re-explore their surroundings though.

When I feel inspired I'll redo my pigs cage... but generally I just attack the inners of their cage and re-arrange toys or add on hay bins or drape towels in places.

I spend more time making floortime areas safe than concentrating on their cage, since the peegs cage is just a pen I use to keep them away from wires when I want to be careless.

yeap, got rats, 3 cages of hamsters, and african pygmy dormice as well as my piggy shed and bunny hutch. Tackling the wee creatures tonight. Two of my hamsters, who both live on their own are very elderly and a but wobbly and stiff, so having new challenges with them. gonna do it in front of the TV (CSI :) while o/h is on his night shift

There is nothing more satisfying than having fresly cleaned cages - really! I love it when the cleaning is all done and I'm looking at fresh, clean fleece and new toy setups for them to enjoy.

I need to clean them out today, but feel pretty awful with a horrid cold so will have to tackle one cage at a time and keep taking a break!

I spent four hours yesterday in my shed.

I cleaned out my piggies. I fretted over Hectors enormous poos (no more today so far, hurrah! and thanks for the advice yesterday) I cuddled and brushed Hector.

I cut some nails, and fed some hay, and took some photos, then onto my stick insects, I cleaned, I swapped some tanks, I went for a walk to get foliage, I counted hatchlings, and, my favorite, I sorted eggs from stick insect poo ready for hatching. And that was before I started on the hamster and tortoise!

I was in my element, the best afternoon in ages, (with the exception of poor hector and his sore bottom)

I have to say there is nothing more satisfying than the freshly cleaned cages. One day last week I managed the cages and the house all in one day and by tea time I felt pretty smug! :)

How's the cold now Laura?

I rearrange toys and hideys around the living room more often; but a freshly cleaned cage and room is a thing of joy - though a rather shortlived joy once the piggies had a dive in!

a freshly cleaned cage... is a thing of joy

I really like that. I was thinking of making a little sign with it on to go in their cage, but then realised the little wotsits would have destroyed it in no time!
