Dindeen
Junior Guinea Pig
I'd like to share the story of one little Almond:
A month ago my guinea pig Hare became very ill due to the abscess on his back. When I left him at the vet hospital, I told him to get well quickly and that he'd have a little buddy once he came home. But he never got the chance to come home.
Almond was the little buddy who was supposed to greet Hare. I got the little tyke from a petshop. When the guinea pig cage was opened, all the piggies ran about but Almond came up to me and my sister. My sis absolutely insisted that we had to take that rowdy piggy no matter what; at first we couldn't think of a name, then when he curled up in our hands he looked just like an almond nut.
Here's Almond compared to Almond-shiba (a Mameshiba character):
Almond looked like this when he first got home. He was temporarily in a hamster cage (detachable sides and top) because I planned on keeping him separate from Hare since the older piggy was still sick, and Almond might have parasites or illnesses that he could've picked up from the petshop:
Hare was not coming home so I moved Almond to the guinea pig enclosure. Soon I noticed that he had lice, and I treated him with a pyrethrin-based kid's shampoo, twice a week for two weeks and once a week after that, just to make sure that he was completely lice-free. He ended up with very pretty fur. My hair pales in comparison to it:
This is his first girlfriend, Ms. Tomato. Seriously, he just kisses it; he doesn't bite it- was really funny:
Our guinea pig enclosure has very narrow grills. Cat paws cannot fit through it, but that didn't stop Almond from becoming friends with our cat Nibbler. He would approach the cat whenever he's running around in his ball. They would run around the living room in an endless game of tag. Once Nibbler gets close to Almond's ball, he'd stop and let the piggy run ahead again:
This is Almond's hamster house which he absolutely loves:
... see?
He won't leave the house unless I pick him up.
