Well with 23 piggies waiting for homes here, and the last of the babies now ready to go, it's time to play Blind Date and pair up some of the single boars. So, playpen at the ready - clean fleece, lots of veg, and a dustpan to separate them if things turn bad!

Fingers crossed they'll find a friend rolleyes

Typically the first one, the naughty abby Giles, is trying to jump OUT of the pen rather than meet his new 'friend'. Boars eh - gotta love them!

Have a peg ready for your nose too...ooooohh the smell :)>>>

Oh the joys of boars! Still, I wouldn't want any other piggies! I'm "looking forward" to the day I unite my 3 grown up boys & the 2 babies! Oh the separations, the mounting, the growling...

Have a great evening! :)):))

So far so good - started with the 'worst', the mad abby boar who attacked his previous partner quite badly. Tried him with a baby boar (held my breath!) and although lots of chasing and humping, no gnashing of teeth so they've now gone from the playpen into a clean new cage indoors so I can hear if there's a rumpus!

Next candidates - Geoffrey (the boar badly bitten by the boar above!) and another baby.... Round 2!

this sounds like fun, more than my marking after a trying parents' evening.... keep us updated and we would all love some pigtures....:):p

Second pair going well! Geoffrey is a little love, just had a lovely cuddle and he stretched out on my lap and nodded off!

Think he likes his new friend - time for them to go off to their new cage, then I can finally have some supper!

Baby boars need new names now - they were called Copper and Cointreau - but need G names to match their new pals I think!

Aww what beautiful pairs they make, glad they've each found a friend x)

As for names: Godfrey, Gil/Gilbert, Graham/Graeme Godber, Gavin, Gabriel, Gerald/Gerard/Gerry, Gallagher, Gillespie, Gordon, Grant, Griffin, Granville, Galen, Galileo, Garrett, Gareth, Garth, Gaultier, Gene, George, Geronimo, Greg/Gregory/Gregor, Guy, Gray/Grayson, Gideon, Glenn, Glynn, Grady, Gollum, Gus

Thanks for the name suggestions, funnily enough I'd already chosen Geronimo as one of them!

They spent the night in their new pairs and apart from some initial chasing round, they seem ok. The crazy abby spent the night on the roof of the wooden house (:{) and has taught the baby to climb and jump already. He's a BAD pig!

Sounds as though you had a busy night, looks as though it passed off ok. How are they all today, are they all still together and happy? Since Pinkie my sow passed over the bridge, I have been wondering whether to pair my boar Archie with a younger guinea as he is the youngest at only 8 months old. I still have Rosie my older sow, she is 4 now, they live next door to each other, so this has put me off, incase of any fighting. Seems a shame that they are both living alone, having said that Rosie seems happy enough.

They were fine this morning, in the 'boars' room for the night! No girls to smell!

I've found there are very few that can't be paired off, might be worth trying your boy

I would like to try and pair him off as, this is going to sound awful but, he is going to be with me alot longer. I don't want to start any fighting though as I don't have the option of moving the cage to another room unfortunatley.

Good to hear that the night went well. How has it been today?

Boars can surprise you & behave well when you least expect it! My Legolas (the bossiest of the older 3) has spent a lot of today standing up at the indoor cage on the floor sniffing the babies. Normally he growls & bottom wiggles & lets everyone else know of his masculinity but today - nothing! Let's hope it continues..... and for you too! :)):))
