An impossible situation...

I think the time comes when you need to just leave them, trying to get them to eat is only prolonging the ineviatable its very sad and hard.
 
I so sorry to hear that Poppet's health is not improving

You're in my thoughts. Hugs to you. I can't imagine being in your shoes xx

Debbie isn't trying to get Poppet to eat, she can eat by herself; her teeth need doing but it is her heart problems that are making her so very ill :(
 
Debbie has just rang & has asked me to let everyone know Poppet has passed away, very peacefully, in her arms. 8... 8...

Miss Pops, who i met a few times, is now re-united with her sisters Toffee & Skye & Schmichael bunny (who loved the girls).
I will miss you Poppet, you were an inspiration! x)

I'm thinking about you Debbie & sending you my love x

I'm so, so sorry to hear this - I know little Poppet was a favourite on the forum and had battled so hard, I remember being so pleased when I read that she was finally eating for herself...

I am so sorry to hear this, wee Poppet clearly was a little fighter and Debbie you did a wonderful job, there is no doubt Poppet knew she was loved dearly, such an inspirational little pig... I'm happy she is at Peace, popcorning in the sky with her friends. RIP Poppet you will be missed sorely!

Pops was an incredible pig, a massive inspiration - everything she went through was certainly not in vain.

A poster pig for why vets should give guinea pigs a chance.

Its very sad she sounded like a right lttle battler, and I am sure she lived a lot longer than she might have because she had such a great owner, you should be proud of yourself.
 
I am still in shock, can't believe it. I wish I could give poor Debbie a hug, even having lost a pig I've 'nursed' for a while I can't quite imagine what she's going through. :(

I am very proud, not of myself as such, because it was a great pleasure to do what I did for her, but proud to have known and shared in the life of such a special little piggie. She had the biggest personality ever and lived her life to the full.

She is most definitely the best advert ever for why dental problems do not have to be a death sentence.

Poppet came into my life in the summer of 2005, but it was in June 2008 that she stopped eating after the death of her sister Toffee. The past 20 months have been spent, firstly encouraging her to eat again, and then maintaining her dental problem with weekly and then two weekly visits to her special uncle Simon.

I'm going to miss my girl so much, and over the next couple of weeks I am going to put together her special story, and make the biggest tribute ever to share with you all!

I've had such lovely messages, and I thank you all. It means such a lot to me!

Debbie, I just read your pm, I don't know what to say. I am so saddened by the news, I can't stop crying. We all loved little Pops, she was a little angel on earth. Now she's a little cherub on the bridge. No more suffering, no more pain. Yet there's definately a mini trail of paw prints where she walked, and those paw prints are in many of our hearts. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am so sorry that your little fighter has lost her last battle!

Poppet was such a character, and you have been through hell and high water with her; a bond like that runs deep. With your dedication and Simon's knowledge, you have been able to add so many more months to her life that she would have otherwise not have had.

I am glad that Pops could take off for the Rainbow Bridge from the safety of your arms, just as she would have wanted!
 
Pops has just gone on her last visit to the vets! They will arrange her cremation and I will have her ashes back very soon.

I still can't believe she's gone! I need to sort her cage out, but haven't felt up to doing it yet. Sheila Wheeler Dealer has moved back in with Rory, Hannah and Tufty, who she lived with before moving in with Poppet after Skye died.

I had been out for a few hours yesterday afternoon, but she waited for me, before passing away in my arms very peacefully!

I could so easily have lost Pops back in the summer of 2008 when she first developed dental problems and her weight plummeted to below 600g, but thanks to having a wonderful vet like Simon, and a piggie with a mega attitude, we won through! Recently though she seemed to develop heart problems, just like her sister Skye, but again, with medication, she fought back! I so hoped she could again win another battle! It wasn't to be!

RIP little Pops.
We get more attatched to the "extra-special" ones who need syringe/hand feeding for months. I remember her stories although I only joined recently. She was an inspiration.8...
