Well Kenickie was set to have a new friends soon. I was very excited and everything seemed to be going great. Then my oh found out he was going to be made redundant :( obviously this threw a spanner in the works. i had to have a long think and decided i needed to make sure i could support the piggies i had first before gettin more. Unfortunatly i couldnt take the new piggy on which has broke my heart. I feared we would have to rehome kenickie due to lack of funds. My mom saw how sad i was and offered to pay for him to be neutered to go with the girls. that will save on megazorb etc when cleaning them out (and space). Well he was neutered today. His getting on really well (feeling sorry for himself though). His eating fine, i have him on white blankets as advised and his being kept nice and warm downstairs near lincoln for company but out the noisy piggy room.

The one thing I'm abit confused about is the vets have told me he can go with the girls on Saturday after his check up but I'm sure it should be longer. I think I'm going to wait 4 weeks or so before i put them together.

Anyway thats the update on my gang.

Hi Chez,

Sorry to hear about your OH. Does this mean he'll be driving you to work then? I guess he'll lose the company car in the process...

Glad to hear Kenickie is doing good. he's such a stunning little gem.

Hope you're doing OK, I've not been able to be on the forum for a while, but how's the job going?

my job is going brilliant thanks. I'm finding it really interesting. ive started taking minutes in meetings and going to different sites to do the greivence meetings. I'm given quite abit of resposibility. Yeah my Oh will be driving me to work. loosing his car but lucky not for a little while. his mates with the manager and his been worded up by him early so he can look elsewhere. fingers crossed.x

that sounds really good with the job. Fingers crossed for OH, hopefuly he'll get something with a new car too! :))

I would also leave Kenickie alone for 4-6 weeks. It seems to be the word out there..

Good luck!

Sorry for your OH job news but fab you can keep Kenickie and ace that your job is working out so well now! x

Hi Chez :) Sorry to hear that your OH has lost his job and that you couldn't have the little piggy :( Pleased to hear that Kenickie is doing well and I think that Saturday is way to soon to put him with the girls as he could still have live sperm. Best to leave it 4 to 6 weeks as already suggested xx

So sorry to hear about your OH's potential job loss ... I know how you must be feeling as my husband knows he will be losing his job this year after working for the same company for 36 years! :(

Anyway, well done to your mum. Yes, Kenickie will be feeling sorry for himself for a couple of days, but I am sure he will be ok very soon and loving his new life with the girlies!

The minimum time you should leave him before introducing to sows after neutering is 4 weeks as sperm can stay in his "tubes" for a while, live and able to make minipigs!

thanks guys. I'm definetly leaving him 4 week. my girls mean to much to me to risk it. his been on his own for a while so 4 weeks wont hurt him and then he cxan have some new girlfriends :)

..... and when he has his check-up, can you somehow tactfully tell your vet that boys should be kept apart from the girls for longer than his recommended "few days" post-snip.

So sorry about OH's job, and hope things will be o.k. for him, and you.

And also hope Kenickie is feeling better today?

hey i'm in a rush, so will answer this properly when i have time.

piggies must be left on their own/with same sex pairing until 6 weeks after the operation, because of latent sperm syndrome. i'm going to leave sonny at least 8weeks after, just incase

Hiya,
We kept Sammy away from the girls for 4 weeks but let them meet during floor time after 2 weeks. We just made there was no xoxo while they were together!
