I bought my bits for my first c&c cage last night and put the basic shape together. I've built it 3x2 with a small upper level too. I just have to get the correx for the base now, and then it will nearly be ready :D so excited for my two piggies to move in! I will post pictures when its finished, I wanted to have it bigger but as its in the corner of my bedroom I couldnt, but its 10 times better than the rubbish pets at home one there in now :D

Has everyone else used the plastic correx stuff for the base? its quite expensive where I have found it. Can anyone recommend anything else to use as the base?

x

I can't recommend anything, as I don't know much about C & C cages.

Just thought I'd say i think they are such a good idea and the piggies would love them! I'm looking forward to seeing you finished cage :)

I'd love to build one myself but wouldn't know where to start rolleyes

I bought a sheet of 2mm thick 8ft x 4ft correx from Travis Perkins for £7. Alternatively you could use a piece of vinyl flooring.

:)

I went into my local one so didn't search online. Just had a look and my piece says cordek, so you could try that. I think last time a bought a piece they said the name had changed again so you may have to give them a call. They should know what correx is, apparently builders use it to protect new kitchen floors while they finish fitting out. My piece was very dusty because it comes out of the warehouse but washed off easily. I didn't mind because it was so much cheaper than anywhere else.
Hoep this helps. :)

sorry for hijacking your thread chuck, good luck with the cage, they are ace and piggies love them and they are soooo easy to keep clean x

When I put my guineas in thier C+C for the first time, you should have seen the popcorning, I think they were very pleased with thier new home.:))

I can't wait to finish it :) I just cleaned them out now and just popped them in the half finished cage whilst I did it and they seemed pretty chuffed then! So imagine what they'll be like :D x

It sounds like they will love it. We don't have correx on the bottom of ours yet though will do at some point. We have inco pads on top of a plastic tablecloth.
