So! I get back from Manchester Comic Con with my friends. I left my family in charge of my guinea pigs for while I'm away - good thing I came back today is all I can say!

Apparently Mum had left the care of them to my brother as she's been busy and at work....what care?! Came home just now to find them a complete mess; the night time
cover hadn't even been lifted up (they could have overheated!) and absolutely no food or water whatsoever! They'd tipped all their bowls over trying to find food! Since I last fed them Friday and I knew they were going to run out of nuggets that day; I left a whole new fresh bag - hasn't been touched the bowl completely empty! No hay, water bottles green....

Not impressed is all I can say! Poor sweethearts. Started wheeking like crazy when they heard me come home! I guess they missed me, too.

I'll get them a nice salad and hopefully try and clean them a little bit of this rain ever stops! Looks like they didn't even pull down the night cover during the weather yesterday so the poor sweethearts are soaked. Totally not impressed and I don't want to leave them again! I'll check all the girls over and give them a quick weight check.

Oh I would be so cross too! I know how you feel, I went away with my (then) fiance to celebrate a friend's birthday, and left a good friend to look after my piggies for 1 NIGHT - she gave my house key to her friend who I'd never met, and then didn't even go into the house (my friend insisted that her friend had gone in and had found no instructions, despite me leaving them on the coffee table on bright orange paper), my poor babies were starving when we got home. It then took 3 days for me to get my key back because somehow her DAUGHTER ended up with it. I was reluctant to go away on honeymoon but thankfully my maid of honour was there to look after them.

It gets worse. Hamster got hardly anything either! Poor little guys.

Man! I would be so so cross! I can't believe they couldn't go for one night! I'm so glad I came home today as I've been gone all weekend!

I'd feel a total plonker if I did that to someone's pets... and I'd be very angry if someone did that to ours... IT's not like they can get out and help themselves to food and water..

They're so hungry they've tipped the nuggets bowl over while in the run and eating off the floor fighting each other for it! Totally unimpressed and really cross. Last time I left them in the care of my family one died because they weren't watching and didn't see the signs for ringworm and other complications... No veg either! I don't want to go away for more than one day now!

Gosh that's awful! I would say more but I'm rushing around now, but know that I feel angry for you... xx

oh no, thats awful.. Poor little piggies.... I am sure they will be happier when they have full bellies.. it is a worry getting someone to look after them when you are away.. x

Everyone is okay; weights all fine and they seem to be alright! I've cleaned their hutch; bottles have had a nice scrub out and lots of hay and a nice fresh salad mix with cucumber in case of dehydration! They're happily running about now.

I I rang my mum and asked what the hell went on while I was gone and who was meant to be looking after them and she said "don't start a fight; sure they're fine -" poor girls were anything but fine! But at least they're clean and full little tummies again.

Might look into a pet sitter. Can't believe it.

I agree best to get a pet sitter in future if you can't trust your family (though you should be able to). Keep an eye out for any digestive issues over the next few days in case.

Poor piggies! I hope they are all alright. You would have thought family could help out. Boarding it is then.

It's just so irritating I can't trust them! Like; seriously...Mum and Dad are insisting that they were fed; but they had nothing! And it really worries me as I don't know what they've had and what not.....

Getting even more mad as Mum's now decided that she wants to go to the gym tomorrow and she's decided that she's going to throw the two year old screaming cousin on me so she can do what she wants! She can get lost! Had enough of her dragging me out! I'm 18!

I wouldn't leave them in their hands again, definitely find a reliable sitter!

Wow! I would be so angry at that. I'm sorry that happened. I hope you let your brother know what for!

Did you have fun at MCM? Are you going to kitacon this week? If so make sure you get someone else to look after them. My mother will be looking after mine for me while I am there.

I told him that they could have died. He shrugged and went back to his ps4. Too mad for words.

I had a good time at MCM! I got some artwork; a toothless hoodie and a Scootaloo plushie! (I like cuddly things....) and I wanna order a T Shirt but apart from that... X3

Glad you had a good time, that sounds like a great haul! I used to love going to the Bristol Comic Con but haven't been for some years now :(

I'm so angry for you, your poor pigaligs! I left mine overnight with my dad once, with written instructions and portions for veggies and pellets in separate bags. Literally all he had to do was empty two veggie bags in the evening and another two, plus a bag of pellets the next morning. I came to collect them the following afternoon and they'd had no pellets and only one bag of veggies was empty :( Was not impressed!

Last time I left guinea pigs with my Dad...one died. Granted; she was a Pets At Home pig and she was the runt of the litter...they got ringworm while I was away; and he didn't give them any veg...so my little runt Pumpkin died in my lap on the way to the emergency vets. Was awful. Got home to runny poo and everything. Never again.

I'd be really angry too, if you can't rely on family it may be best to get a sitter next time like others have said.

Ergh! Take his ps4 away. See how he likes it

Thats good! Toothless hoodie how adorable! <3
There was a guinea pig t-shirt at MCM London I saw. It was really cute but I had no money on me to buy it.

I don't rely on family to look after my animals . Trust my sixteen year old and thirteen year old more than the adults in my family. Pure laziness as far as I'm concerned, would never do that to any animal. If me and my kids away more than a day I call a sitter in that was highly recommended.

It didn't happen to be a t shirt with "Guinea Pigs everywhere salute you!" Was it? X3 I bought one of those in May!

Poor piggies, I'm glad they are OK though & enjoying having you back. My neighbours looked after ours once, came back after a week away to find the hay I had left for the week had had 1 hand full used & they had eaten all their bedding hay in hunger- there was literally none left, just wood chips. Water bottle was empty & no nuggets! No excuses, she had pigs too & had shared path accessing both gardens, grrrrr.

I would be utterly furious! This is why my piggies go into boarding while we are away because although I trust my family with my life I wouldn't trust them with my piggies.

Yeah I dont blame you. I would have something to say and I would not mince my words either. Cant bear unreliable people. No excuses should be made.
