Just went into my local petshop (which has a really good reputation) to buy some hay
Saw a little girl who couldnt have been older than 5 being bought an angora bunny
And with it a tiny little cage that looked about 3ft >:(
You could bet anything that the bun would be sitting in that cage down the bottom of the garden for its whole life and never see a brush
I felt like saying something to the petshop owner but I was in a real rush and anyway nothing would have been done
I think angoras and other long haired breeds shouldnt be sold in petshops
I wish they could only be sold at breeders
And I also wish that 3ft cages were banned

Thats terrible!

I picked up 2 pigs this morning, and can only desribe their cage as a hamster cage! Probably recommended by P@H staff!

Now they have a HUGE one at my house!

I wish my cage was bigger because everyone on this site has big cages and mines a standard 4x2
But they have floor time, mostly an hour a day, so I'm assuming theyre healthy :)

I know peole love bunnies but in but i dont theink they are domestic animals guinea pigs are they show you love and affection bunnies on the other hand just care about geting the next feed they are notdomesticanimals it should be illeagal to sell them but u no in the perfect world......

Sorry ................. forgot to post too !

I wouldn't worry 4 x 2 is fine, sometimes it's more about who they live with than the size of their hutch. Not everyone has room for a huge hutch, floor time and pampering play just a big a part in keeping them healthy. :)

Bunnies are still a little "wild" so to speak. They often kick and can nip. I'm not saying there aren't any friendly ones, but they can be moody and you need to be extra gentle with them (and piggies of course!)

I had an uncle, I think (I was very little), with a black bunny with a big cage who would come and greet you with kisses. It was really cute :D

Have to disagree with you there - our 2 buns are really affectionate and love my OH especially. They are more affectionate than our pigs at times and love being stroked. They also recognised us when we collected them from the holiday home after our hols and came bounding out to see my OH. And our pigs are much more interested in their next feed than the rabbits are - the rabbits are more exctied at seeing us!

Ours live outdoors in big hutches with runs attached. They also get the run of the garden (supervised in case they burrow).
I am sure if a bun is kept in a tiny hutch with not much affection then of course they will nip and be unhappy.

Ah yes i know waht you mean we had tones of bunnies once (a little accident ;D) and they were just like that and they were all affectionate but u no it all depends on the bunnie and i find that most seem to just want to be left alone were as i have never met a piggie that doesent seem interested in you (of course that has something to do with food lol ;D) but mine are great and so loving u no what i mean?
