Yup, Rupert my six and a half year old lad has a UTI so on sulfatrim and metacam, again! (Obviously Pedro the chin doing much better so the other boy in the house wants to cause trouble!)

Had utis and a couple of stones over a couple of years but we’ve been clear of them ages now and has been a really healthy chap, other than his strange bloatyness episode in feb.

Has been leaving veg the last couple of days and weighed him this morning, lost 70g since last Monday.
Poor lad, really hope antibiotics are all he needs and it’s not another stone. With his last stone he had a bad reaction to the anaesthetic for X-rays at Cat and Rabbit and Simon said he wasn’t a good candidate for surgery, thankfully that one was small enough for him to pass (unlike the first emergency surgery one!).
Fingers and toes crossed for my lovely chilled out boy!

Poor Rupert, what is it with this Easter and poorly piggy pee?! Piggle sends healing wheeks and vibes (and some smelly pee that stings a bit) and hopes the antibiotics do the trick like they are with her! X

Makes me wonder weva its a temperature change thing with pigs getting pee problems. Just a guess.

Get well soon Rupert

Thanks a lot @Wiebke and @YvonneBlue x

Feel bad he’s probably been sore for a few days, he’s been on Cystease for years now and hopefully has helped a bit. But Jess was in heat over wknd and she’s mad so put his quietness down to that (just getting out of her way is always best for him!). Hopefully he’ll perk up soon, his age of course worries me! :(

This bank holiday curse remind me of my wedding day curse when Dot stopped eating a few days before. I could have sat in a dark corner and rocked back a forth i was that stressed lol!. Luckily furryfriends teas saved the day😁

Thanks a lot everyone, really appreciated x

He’s such a gorgeous boy and got the sweetest personality so trying to stay positive for my lovely Poopy Bear (even though a bit hard with his past history!) :)

Thanks @Bill & Ted :) x

He’s doing ok thanks @rhymer, quite chirpy today but still not keen on veg other than cucumber. He’s still munching hay and pellets and had some oats last night, his weight’s pretty stable thankfully. Still only 850g though, so a bit of a teeny boy bless him! Thanks a lot :) x

Well my boy’s worrying me today, this morning I thought he’d passed away, normally both are at the side of the cage telling me it’s bfast time but nothing. Both hiding in their new favourite hidey bag. I’d put some mashed pellets with a bit of Pro-C in at 12.30am so probably had a good scoff overnight.
Had meds, then veg a bit later but not much.

He’s moving around fine, eating a bit of hay when he pops out and had pellets earlier (grainless). No straining, like he did when the first stone was blocking him urinating (couldn’t pee at all, was well and truly stuck). Just seems uncomfortable. Known him so long just not quite right! Seemed so perky yest.
He’s on 0.2ml of metacam (twice daily) but think I’ll have to give him a bit more, Pedro the 450g (well 470 now!) chin is on 0.15 and I can up it if he’s sore or causing issues so may have to with Rupert, don’t want him feeling terrible.

My poor old boy :( only had 3 and a half days on the sulfatrim so know he’s got a while to go yet, just worried they know something I don’t! :( 😢

How much does the pig weigh thats on 0.2 metacam? Is it dog or cat one? I took advice from furryfriends teas and upped dot from 0.25 to 0.3 and it has worked a treat. But she weighs 960g ish.

Just noticed I'm not on your thread sorry. P.m me if you want.

Edit. Just realised i am on your thread haha🤣

Didn’t even spot you’d replied to this! Too busy talking about our crazy ladies!
It’s dog metacam, don’t worry I’ve used it before! :D

He’s had a little munch but think I’ll give him a little top up, Poppy the chin was on 0.3ml when she was nearing rainbow bridge and she was half the weight of Rupert, Simon’s told me to give more in the past just didn’t want to wreck his appetite more than it is with all the meds.
Will give his Cystease a bit early too in case bladder feeling sore. Might actually split it half am and half pm.

So paranoid I’ve rinsed veg in bottled water the last few days rather than tap, anything to help him! Oh Rupert yet again! :(
