I know there are like a million bedding questions already, but none of them seemed to answer what i wanted to know....

Anyways, since leaving my job i have more time to spend with Tomz... And in a way learning more and more about him has become my little hobby.
So, i haven't realised this before but he doesn't roam around his nero any more like he used to. I believe this is because his bedding.

What will be best for my little piggy? Sadly i can't afford ANYTHING at the moment (I haven't even got a pound coin 8...) but if i tell you what i have in the house then maybe you can suggest what to use...

I have:
- Newspaper
- Shredded paper
- Woodshavings
- Hay

And obviously i have Towels, but my Boyfriends Mum wont let us use the softest ones, only the old ones which are slightly hard...

Info greatly appriciated!

Newspaper on the bottom of the cage with a covering of hay is fine, I use this. If you have any old fleeces or fleecy dressing gowns they can be cut up and put in bedding area to snuggle in, as can towels. If you have a couple of old socks cut a little bit out of the toe and hang with string from the top of your cage, stuff up with hay through the toe opening, and then your piggies will have fresh hay as well as the stuff they run around and poop in, and they also like reaching up and picking the hay out, keep them amused for a bit, and costs nothing. x

I tried shreaded paper in the bed areas for my boys at one point but they didn't seem to like it and it got all soggy within minutes as they wee'd all over it so If I were you I wouldn't bother with it.

Use newspaper on the bottom about three sheets deep and then just use hay on top of it. I would steer clear of shavings too as they can't make their little feet sore and make them sneeze a lot

Thanks for your posts!
I think i will line the bottom with newspaper (i do anyways..)
and then, shredded paper as Tomz seems to like rustling around in that, and lots of hay.

Thanks All!
