Noticed someone giving away their guinea pigs with a hutch, bedding and food, due to changed circumstances, seems like a caring ad, but they just clearly haven't thought about taking them to a rescue, so i replied to her add with some names and numbers of local rescues and urged her to take them to a rescue rather than give them away through freecycle, giving her some worst case scenarios of what could happen by doing it through freecycle, i really hope she listens and takes my advice. :(

Pretty much. :( Its so sad, but atleast they did seem like they cared and maybe just wernt aware of rescues. :)

It's nice to know that people from this forum are making a small difference by noticing and informing these advertisers about the existence of piggy rescue centres. Every little helps!

thanks for the responses, that was the second time i had to report a post relating to guinea pigs, and i emailed the person as above on both occassions. Didn't have any responses though :( however both ad's soon disappeared, whether it was because i reported them or the people saw sense and followed advise i guess i will never know.

Sadly i saw this this morning

http://groups.freecycle.org/norwichukfreecycle/posts/16332515/DOG (STAFF/BOXER)

So i did the same thing, reported it and emailed the person asking them to contact a rescue or such to ensure he gets a loving caring home, i also said sadly these type of dogs often fall into the wrong hand and get mistreated and abused, which i am sure they wouldn't want on the conscience, and advertising him on a free website could end up disastrous. (i know that sadly all breeds of dogs are at a risk of such horrible things but i feel, statement dogs such as staffies, rotties for example have a higher risk due to the owners they sometimes fall into the hands of)

Hopefully they will also follow my advice.
