So this evening's emergency visitor to the vets was Connie. When I got home she was quiet (unusual). I found her hiding at the back of a cosy shuddering with a hay dart poking out of her eye. I've no idea how long it was there but she was fine this morning when I left for work. Could have been like it for hours (doesn't bear thinking about).

After we got it out we took her to the vets and she has a badly scratched/ulcerated cornea. It looks very sore and weepy, poor thing. So she's on corneal repair drops plus antibiotic drops which she hates, but fortunately the Metacam is going down a storm. She's looking happier already and is tucking in to some treats. Hopefully she will be back to her usual, beautiful self very soon.

Ouch...this always sounds so painful and i am sure it is very painful ... Hope she is ok x

Wishing your poorly girl a quick and smooth recovery! Depending on the severity, it can take between a week to two weeks until it is fully healed, but as she as got same day vet care, she should hopefully heal without any complications.

It's pretty bad, @Wiebke as evidenced by the fluorescent dye but you can see the damage with the naked eye. I'm just hoping she wasn't in that state for too long as it must have been very painful.

Oh poor angel. Hope she is feeling brighter soon.

You have had her seen asap; even with our children and partners, we cannot be there for them every single minute of the day. it is always upsetting to know that a beloved one has been in pain for any amount of time, but try and concentrate on getting her better instead. If you can get the ointment in 4 instead of 3 times a days, it can speed up the healing process.
