Hi Everyone

I posted yesterday about my lovely fudge who had to PTS. The last week has been horrible for us until there was nothing more the Vet could do for him.

Posting this now i feel like i am disrespecting Fudge but i have another piggie to consider in all of this.

Fudge and Sid have been together since i got the approx 11 months ago. I had them separate in a C&C cage.(grids separating them so they did not fight) but they used to lie next to each other all day and basically kept each other company, but they had thier own space when they wanted it.

Since Fudge has been in the Vets all week Sid has really missed him. He has been constantly looking for Fudge and seems rather quiet.

The vet said that boars can live alone but if they have had company he still needs it. Also looking at posts other people are saying the same.

The dilema is do i get another one. We passed a rescue centre today (only piggie they had was a sick one seeing the vet).

I have to say i felt a little bit disappointed by the treatment we got. When i say this i mean not really friendly. It is the first time i had been in a rescue and i have to say i was not impressed by the whole set up.

I explained the dilema of what we were in and said i wanted Sid to have another boar for company as he is fretting. Exact conversation as follows and this is no lie.

Rescue = I prefer pigs to be in together for contact.
Us = Boars are known to fight and Sid can be a little bit grumpy.
Rescue = They need to be together to have contact.
Rescue = Is he neutered.
Us = No
Rescue = you need to get him neutered / why is he not neutered
Us= I believe some piggies are not good with anaesthetic and i have just lost one and i don't want to loose him as well.
Rescue = most of them make it.
Rescue = they should be in the same cage
Us = Our Vet is very happy with our set up we had for them.

I then showed her on our camera our set up at home / indoor C&C cage across the whole of our dining room wall.

Rescue = I must admit i like your set up / really like that.

We were starting to feel a bit uncomfortable and decided to leave.
What a terrible experience considering we would have been given a animal a good forever home.

I have to say a lot of people do not like Pets at home / but were we live they are very good (we bought our 2 there). The place is spotless were the animals are kept and the customer service 100%.

So now the dilema is do we proceed to try and find a boar for company for Sid or do we wait to see if he cheers up?

Any suggestions

Sorry

I would just like to inform people that the rescue centre is not one listed on this site.

I do not want to offend the Rescue Centres on this Site.

I have not contacted any rescue centres on this site due to the fact they are not local to me.

I should have added this on the post above.

We can help, were abouts are you?

There are lots of rescue on here that would be more than happy to help you find a friend for your boar.

If you let us know we may be able to help and rescues quite often have foster carers in different areas of the country. For example I foster for Becklen who are based in the borders but I am in Glasgow. Plus piggy trains can often be arranged.
