hi everyone, this is my first time here as a member. decided to join for the benefits of being able to answer and ask questions of people infinitely more knowledgable then myself.
My piggie, Gremlin, is a boar, aged 18-19 months. Very happy and very active unitl a short period last week when he seemed a little down in the dumps and a bit lethargic and off his food. We got him moving about and it wasn't long unitl he was running, popcorning and acting normal again. Unfortunately his poops were small tear shaped, soft with the odd normal one thrown in. I noticed that he wasn't munching much hay or pellets and he'd lost interest in cucumber skin. I did a check and noticed his water bottle wasnt working properly and also the hay seemed slightly musty (I use lunnun dust free) I stopped the veggies, bought some fresh hay and he's been happily munching on just pellets and hay for the last 36 hours or so. His poop is pretty normal now (sizewise), ever so slightly sticky and about the right consistency. Should I keep him on pellets and hay for a bit longer? slowly re-introduce veg? any pointers much appreciated thankyou

Hello, welcome to the forum. Sounds like he has had a gassy/bloaty episode. Is the poo coming out in normal amounts now? I would slowly introduce veg starting with non gassy veg first of all and smaller amounts, if he stops pooing again or the poo becomes watery, would advise a vets visit to get him checked over.

One of our pigs became intolerant to certain vegetables that she'd once been able to eat and it caused her to bloat, so please do keep an eye.

Keep up with plenty of hay as the fibre is important.

thanks for the reply, what is defined as a 'gassy' veg though?

Thankyou, he seems back to normal now, I always get worked up and over worried about him, I might try him on some romaine tomorrow morning, as he's trying to guilt me into giving him some veg right now.

Thanks for the help everyone, no more kale for him, he'll be gutted. Lucky he likes plenty other veggies that seem to be none gassy.

Just another question. Had him out for some floor time today and in the 20-25 mins he was out he was running around, popcorning again and he did 5 poops, 3 normal, 1 about half the size and 1 tiny one, could this just be normal variation or still something to be concerned about?
