another problem. this time with Bodie

I've never seen anything like it before but i will say if he were mine i'd be extremely concerned. I'd want to know why it's happened & what's going on now it's in there, for the vet to say it could be because he's chubby i'm not totally convinced. I have 2 large piggies, one over 3lb the other almost 3lb & neither have inverted penises, one does have a cauliflower which is fine.

A penis should be on the outside, a body part that inverts for no apparant reason is worrying.
If my OH woke up in the morning and his penis had retracted into his body & he couldn't get it out he'd be straight to A & E.

Please take him to a different vets, i'm worried that something's caught round it or in it & if so being in the body it'll most likely be seriously infected esp if he's able to urinate. Where is the urine going if it's not expelling from his body?

As others have said I think it could be something serious for the poor lad so I'd be hunting down a second opinion asap.

You have been to my rodentologist before I think haven't you - I would give him a ring too as rodentologists are so much better trained on the ways of piggies than any vet I've met.

thanks guys. I'm really concerned about the lil man his booked into another vet for tomorrow (couldnt get him in any sooner). I'm taking him straight after work. please everyone have your fingers crossed for him x

well i took him and the vets says its a mystery. She checked him properly though. Checked his heart beat, his eyes etc. he said it looks abit sore and will come back out if forced but goes back in again. just to keep an eye on him. his in no pain and seems fine in himself she said.

Seems like it's just retracted completely, very strange. Some people use mineral oil or KY Jelly to ease the poop out when clearing impaction, so maybe it'd help ease his penis out? Poor Bodie!
