Having received 2 lots of vetbed shortly before going away I have yet to put it in the girls' cage - I read somewhere it should be washed a couple of times to improve absorbancy. Daft question but does it need to dry out between washes or can I wash it twice on the bounce?
Thanks

Thank you - another question though, do you still put hay on top in the bedding area for them to sleep in? I can imagine it is hard to get of the vetbed before washing?

I brush mine with an ordinary £1 dustpan and brush before washing, and give it a good shake too. I know some members use a mini hoover thing. However, I do try to use longer stranded hay which doesn't create as much dust as the shorter, chopped types. And it lives upstairs in a box thing not directly on the vetbed.

I hoover off the poops with a dust buster, then use a stiff yard brush to get any remaining fur/hay off ... I rarely have any hay or fur in the washer!

I have a tray in the hay end of the cages to catch most of the hay, in this tray I use megazorb as an absorbent

Unfortunately our cage isn't as big as yours Bekki - very jealous so don't have room for a hay tray - their hay for eating is currently in a hay rack at one end of the cage and at the other is their little house area which I put hay in aswell but just wondering whether I should or not? The hay I get from the market is short hay and quite messy - I never realised keeping GPs would be so hard!
