Nuggit has been making a weird sneezing noise, going the vets friday but i wondered if anyone had any suggestions? Allergy, cold?

Sounds a lot like this only more high pitched because she's so weeny.

My Shadow RIP had been doing this since he was a baby and I do not know what it was but I blame myself that if I went to vet long time ago maybe vet would help him and he wouldn't die?

It is always worth a visit to the vets if in any doubt.
I'm glad you're going on friday, tho if you think it's any worse try and see if you can get in earlier.
Good luck with little Nuggit XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

That sounds a bit like a cough/sneeze. My piggies sneeze and its a different sound but I have heard that cough sound a few times before.

Well, as I would always say, it's better safe than sorry so it's good that you're taking Doris to the vet to get this checked out.

When does she sneeze mostly? Is it when she eats? Hay allergies are unfirtunately more common than you might think in piggies and so this could be a factor. There are dust extracted hays out there (I think the Oxbow Timothy Hay is a good one for that) and your vet might consider steroids...

Other than that it could be a URI or other infection so you are definitely doing the right thing by taking her to the vet. It must be remembered though that piggies do and should sneeze every now and then and that's normal but if Doris is sneezing frequently or when she is doing something in particular then this could be a symptom.

Best of luck and fingers crossed for Doris.

P.S. she looks really cute in that video :)

Doris is not my piggie sorry! :)) Nuggit is my wee sow, that's just a video that i searched to show the noise my girls' been making! But thank you =D i'm not sure when she does it, i'll just hear it and she'll be sat there shocked!

Oh sorry about the name mix-up.

It's terrible trying to catch them in the act isn't it! :) Their little stunned faces look so cute though :)

I would still see the vet but you might want to try to monitor her a bit when she's eating to see if she sneezes then. If you hear her rooting around in her flooring or sth, this might be a sneeze-maker.

How often is she sneezing?

It's alright ^_^ the sneezes can be one or two an hour, took them both the vet today, Poppet has a temp, but Nuggit is icky - they're both on Baytril (?) once a day, with a wee syringe.
Thing is when the vet gave Nuggit her Baytril via syringe, the syringe when she removed it from her mouth, was covered in dark yellow mucus and the vet reckoned it was something she'd eaten, despite the fact that i pointed out she has a very distinct lump under her flipping jaw >_< ugh.

Zambi does that, espcially when I pick him up, like his fat irratates him lol

His right nostrel runs a lot too but theres no sign of illness, I think it's just the way he is.

Once or twice and hour seems quite a lot to me so I'm glad you have them looked at by the vet.

If the vet thinks it's something nuggit's eaten then maybe he has allergies and needs to be treated for them although it doesn't seem like your vet is inspiring you with confidence....

I know it's a hassle but if you're not convinced, I'd see a different vet. How cavy savvy is your vet?

The vet seems savvy, but i want a second opinion =/ i'll take them to another surgery, not to be nasty, just after the boys going missing i'm being majorly overprotective >_<.

The cough doesn't sound as wet anymore, its' more like a rasp, like fffffff-eeeeeeeeek-fffff. If that makes sense? Both are on the Baytril, 0.15 ml once a day as well as there eye drops, although Poppet has now developed a bit of a sneeze too, but they're scoffing all there food and drinking loads so fingers crossed.
