I've become addicted to ordering new fleeces from an eBay fabric store.
I've always got the anti pill fleece as it just seems to be better quality. I was daring and tried out microfleece with dire results!
As soft and cuddly as this fleece is (it's like dressing gown material), it's not suitable for pees and poops. It seems to absorb into the fleece fibres rather than wicking through (after the 3 wash rule). Every time a pick a poo up it leaves a little poo shaped stain.
Gus also seems to find this fleece a tasty snack and has chewed on it but hasn't created any holes. Keeping a look out for fluffy poops.

All in all, anti pill fleece is the clear and definite winner. Thought I'd share this for anyone else wondering about the difference.

I am using anti-pil fleece by the metre from an online store as well; it is holding up well despite heavy use and regular washing at higher temperatures to prevent the build-up of bacteria. I agree that it stays drier than microfleece.

Who are you getting them from (I'm not a seller :)) I've found that a seller called Tia Knight has the best prices and cute designs.
Think I'll wash the microfleece a few times and attempt to hand sow a cuddle cup or something. Just so it's not a waste :)

I have used this place, mainly for the large choice of plain fleece colours to fit into our very busy oldfashioned living room that dates from the time before we got married. Each pen has got a slightly different shade, so I know what belongs to who! ;)

This is probably the biggest UK online dealer for fabrics and is being used by a number of forum members: http://www.abakhan.co.uk/fabric/fleece-fur.html

This is the current layout:
