I tried calculating the dosage of baytril to see if it was appropriate for my piggy but I didn't really understand it. I tried usingthe calculator on guinea lynx .
She was given Baytril with concentration 50mg/ml 0.6ml twice for 7 days. It is suspended in syrup. Is this dosage appropriate for my pig? She is about a year old and weighs 640g.

Whereabouts are you located?

@sport_billy I'm located in Penang, Malaysia. I can't find many vets around here that know much about cavies. Last week I bought her to a vet which gave me some weird suggestions, I made a thread about it last week. After I stopped giving her vegetables her poop returned to pellet form but still softer than my other piggies poops. I stopped the antibiotics too after giving two dosages, because I didnt trust the vet. I stopped the antibiotics on 22/4. Was it wrong to have stopped the antibiotics or even start it? I didn't know what kind of antibiotics it was , the vet also did not do a test on her feces to determine the problem which worried me alot. I was also giving her bene bac 2 hours afterthe antibiotics.
Two days ago(23/4) around evening she stopped pooping for a few hours and stopped eating pellets, but still eating hay ,vegetables(cucumber, romaine, carrots) and drinking water and bene bac.
I thought it was the anti biotics so i searched aandfound many suggestions about feeding olive oil to relieve the constipationn.
So on 24/4 I feed her half a teaspoon ,drizzled on a piece of romaine at night(11pm) and gave her a belly massage, and continued her veggies as usual and gave her probiotics. That day she was a little lethargic.
25/4 In the morning(8pm) there was no poop found and I gave her another half teaspoon of olive oil.lShe started pooping mushy and greasy poops((11am)) 12 hours after i gave her the olive oil for the first time. She then started to eat some pellets.
26/4 Today I brought her to this vet and she tested her feces and said that there was some bacteria in it and she told me that the infection might be caused of the diarrhea, or vice versa. She told me to feed her 20ml critical care per day and also the baytril as mentioned above.

That dosage seems really high to me if I compare it to the Guinea Lynx calculator.

But if it's mixed in a syrup then it may be diluted, we just can't tell.

If you're in doubt @Rinn please ask your vet to recalculate the dose and check Guinea Lynx if you want to query the exact dose.

Try to get hold of some probiotic and give it to your piggy 1.5 hours after the medicine. Baytril can be quite harsh on their stomach so having probiotic can help it settle.

@Jaycey Thank you very much again! I tried too and thought that was really high and thought that I calculated itwrongly. I'll keep a close eye on her. I'll give her probiotics. If she starts having some unusual symptoms then I'll bring her to the vet asap

It depends on the concentration. All I can say is what we get given in the UK - which is normally the 2.5% baytril which i believe is equivalent to 25mg/ml the normal dose range for this which our vet has prescribed has been 0.2ml twice a day for a 1kg pig

I would query the dose with your vet

I see. Thank you for the information. I'll be calling the vet soon when they open. They probably didn't state the concentration after being dilluted.

Update: The vet confirmed that the baytril has been dilluted. Thanks a lot everyone
