Hi all, my piggy boy Kev is currently on antibiotics for a potential UTI. His dose is twice a day for a week, his first dose being 08/07. I think the vet didn’t give me enough as I might be able to squeeze a final dose out tomorrow morning, but after that, I have none left. I have been careful to measure it properly. I won’t use it until I have confirmation from the vet, but what is the likelihood that I’ll be able to use the excess from the same Baytril we were given for his brother from the end of May? TIA

Hi and welcome

In a pinch, you should be able use his brother's baytril - if that is the same antibiotic you have been prescribed - but I would recommend that you contact the clinic tomorrow morning if possible to clear this with them, as they have obviously miscalculated the prescribed amount or dispensed it incorrectly and they should give you more to cover the whole course (without charge) .

Assuming baytril is what was prescribed to Kev, it should be fine, although you may want to have a look at it as baytril crystallises in my experience so doesn't last long once opened.

I've had it before where the vets miscalculated the amount and I just called and they told me to come in to get some extra (free of charge) so I would go for that option before using leftovers.

Hope your boy feels better!
