Hi everyone ! This is my first time posting on this forum . I have 4 guinea pigs ! 2 that’s are around 9 months old that we’re my first babies , and 2 that are around 7 months that I originally was fostering but I fell in love with them . Anyway I have a couple of concerns that are really making me worry . Hoping to find some answers here. I love my little babies .

Three months ago we all went out of town and had some friends with kids take care of our two piggies , Honey and Bri. When we got them back I noticed a huge change in their behavior . They have never loved being held and played with but they would always come to me when I walked in the room and Bri talks ALOT. They have a rather large cage we built with two stories and Honey hides in the very back in the corner under the second floor . She only comes out to snag some food and back to her corner . Bri hides in her favorite tunnel most often but will come out and talk when I am in the room
And sit next to the window and stare at me . She’s not my concern . My concern is that honey never leaves her corner . And they never play together any more. My other two live in a separate cage and are completely opposite of honey and Bri . They will practically jump out of their house to be with me and they chase each other all day popcorning around . Honey and Bri never chase or popcorn anymore . This all happened after a stay with my friends . Can trauma or separation be something guineas experience ? Honey and Bri don’t want to be held so the only time I get to hold them is when I bring hem out to roam freely . Is there anything I can do to make them happy again :(

Please make sure that you have Honey vet checked, in case there is an underlying health problem that has changed the balance in the pair.

The change in behaviour could be caused by:
- fright: something has spooked Honey badly. Try and see whether she is feeling more confident with a sheet pegged over the top of her cage.
- bullying: in this case, have Bri checked for ovarian cysts.
