Any advice please?

Hello

My guinea pig charlie has been diagnosed with systemic fungal infection, I spoke to vedra last night and told her his symptoms and she said it is this. She has told me what antibiotics/antifungal medicene I need and I need to bathe him in an anti fungal shampoo. Has anyone else had this problem? And can anyone recommend anything I can get him or do? I am shringe feeding him at the moment as he will not eat anything. Thanks

I had a 4 year old male present with a lot of the symptoms that Laura has listed in her thread about systemic fungal - after he had been on a variety of antibiotics and he still wasn't 'right', he was put on the itrafungol course for 10 days and weekly baths in Nizoral for 3 weeks - he's a different pig now! Gaining weight, good appetite and feeling a lot happier.

I'm convinced it was the advice that Laura gave that saved this pig. As his appetite was fluctuating so much his teeth were over growing - after two dentals with GA, we very nearly lost him both times - the vet was suggesting PTS as he was going to be suffering again soon.

how bizarre! Luckily where i go all the girls have piggies and swap info and are very very interested in anything piggy! |)

The dosage for Itrafungol (medication) is 0.3ml 2x daily usually for 10 days - I just followed Laura's dosage for an adult pig.

I have just ordered the nizoral bath wash and I'm goin to treat him with nystatin. Well I've managed to get other nurses mor interested but I am only one who really knows anything! So all help is very good thanks x
