any advice please

hello all, i did post a similar post a while back about one of my pigs but needed fresh info as its a different pig.
both my boys are about 9 months and very hormonal at the moment and are humping left right and center ! now the boy who has the smaller man package seems to have grown his balls over night cos they are massive and it now looks like his piggy stick has disappeared but if i pop it out to check its ok it seems with out being rude,big and hard !
he seems to have his head down there giving it a lick or what ever every now and again and i just wanted to know if the swelling of the balls and the disappearing pig stick is all down to him being hormonal , i am finding a lot of boar glue all over the place !

A boars penis does not stick out naturally, and as there testicles drop you may find that it becomes a little bit more hidden, they are quite large, this is something that is with all of the rodent species for some reason. There penis is generally quite large too (in comparison to other mammals size to body size : eg: dogs/cats).

If he is bending down there often it may simply be to pick out his caecotrophs, this is poo that guinea pigs eat and re-digest for a second time. Its how their digestive system works. If however his has a urine infection of something like that you would notice him squeaking while he wee's.

Boar glue is common to find around the place, boars are naughty like that and can also get the stuff stuck in each others fur. Boys eh? lol.

If you want a comparison to another boar. These are a couple of pictures showing what an average size of testicles and penis should be, in fact these are a bit on the smallish size. (sorry - I'm used to chatting to pet owners about things like this - about their pets bits i might add lol)

thats some great info abi nurse. And i too would say they are on the smallish side, My two boys testicles are a little bigger than that, however its a good comparison to show just how big they can be as they get older!

This guy was Hadley (the dumped rescue pig) i dont think he was that old to be honest, so who knows, he may not be fully grown.

Mine are ten months, but i do notice sometimes there testicals are bigger than other times. Not seriously drastic, no redness etc, just sometimes bigger. I took it to mean they were more hormonal. Good to have a size to compare them too.

suggest a vet's visit to check all is Ok as the sudden enlagrement (and subsequent "HEADS. DOWN") does not sound healthy.

Hope there is nothing to worry about..but best safe than sorry etc

thanks all,I'm pretty sure all is ok as he is still a cheeky little and acting up as normal !
abi nurse thanks for your info,I'm aware of the eating his poop and its probably that as he is not constantly down there. the size comparison looks the same(my other boy is much bigger !) and no squeaking etc when peeing and yes boars are dirty little eh,glue all over the place !

and pebble ill keep an eye on him for the next couple of days and take him to my vet if needed,but i do think its hormones though as he WILL NOT stop humping hahaha
