Hi Guys ,
Anyone have an idea what this is? We haven't handled guineas that much as we've all had cold bugs. Other half noticed this when cleaning cage tonight. He was very poorly at vets 2 wks ago and we don't remember it being there then.
Think he may have mites as he and the guineas he's separated from have all started scratching- not mental but noticeable. Ditched the hay and got fresh.
Need to visit vet anyway for check-up and check for mites but just wondered if anyone had an inkling.
Its on his back.

Hi! It looks like a burst cyst to me. Please have it vet checked to make sure that it doesn't get infected.

Thank you wiebke. Hes only recently finished some antibiotics. Will definitely het him to the vets asap. Thank you x

Managed to get an appointment for last night. It had improved soo much its just a case of keeping eye. He thinks it was more likely to be an injury possibly scratching due to mites. Otherwise looks really healthy rating and drinking well.

Blimey I would disagree with that diagnosis, it doesn't look like scratching, I've seen that first hand and nothing like that.
Have they received mite treatment?

He questionned ringworm initially but more or less ruled that out straight away. In the photo above you can clearly see a red roar area with hair coming out the middle. At the vets that red area was then so small, no hair coming out at all. Had to check him over as thought we were looking in the wrong place. I cant believe how quickly it healed. I did mention that a burst cyst had been suggested but he thought it was more like an injury...perhaps bitten/ scratched the area causing it?
Treatment to scalp at back of neck yesterday to repeat once a week for the next 4-6 wks cleaning and changing cage at same time. Its cleaned three times a week anyway.

Sorry its lice he has not mites- i don't know if that's the same thing or not. Little white/transparent things
