Any ideas for toys I could make with the kids for the piggies?

Hi...

My kids are wanting to help me make the "playground" for the piggies, and we have been saving boxes etc.. does anyone have any ideas for toys that the kids could help me make? beds etc..

Can I use large margarine tubs? or would they nibble and hurt themselves? Was thinking about making tunnels with large pop bottles.. cutting the ends off, padding them, and wrapping in fleece?

going to attempt making bridges etc..

Any ideas would be appreciated..

This is a really good site for toys for piggies and mostly free and simple!

I have personally tried with success the towel in the corner, ping pong balls, paper bags, PVC tunnel, cardboard boxes, and they love to play with the newspaper I cover the floor with when they're in the run (little boogers :)) )

As far as actually making anything, I am not terribly creative so can't help you with that.


I have insomnia too :)) probably not as late as wherever you are ;)
 
THANKS! what an amazing site! I'm going to try them ALL! I'm sure my piggies will have loads of fun!i have 2 spare nero 4s for a couple of weeks, so am going to make a playground by putting them together and opening the doors onto each other so they can go from one to the other.. i cant ** to do it now!

Its 6am.. grrrr...I'm going to try and grab an hours kip before i have to get up with the kids for school! my trouble is i can sleep through the day but not at night! even if i dont sleep through the day i still dont sleep at night.. its sooo annoying! x
 
also i forgot to say it made me chuckle when i saw the pic of the piggie stuck in the tube like my neo had been.. i know its not really funny, but, i was obv meant to cut the tube so that didnt happen! luckily neo is ok...

Great ideas, I will be trying lots of them.

I must admit, when I saw that poor little piggy stuck in the tunnel it made me smile. I just want to out him up and give a big cuddle.
 
You can also build some hurdles with rulers and anything that's about 1 1/2 inches high to rest them on. That was a thing both the pigs and we children loved when I was one!
 
I read in a Guinea Pig magazine to throw a plastic spoon in there.....I tried it and Shotzie had more fun with that than any toy I have bought him. :))

poundland had fleece blankets and towels in.. so i grabbed a load! lol...

Even I should be able to do them!

I put a couple of things in tonight and Neo in particular was popcorning like crazy! he has never done it sooo much!

I'm sitting here trying to work out if i make triangular hammocks how i could attach them safely..lol.. think piggies and bunnies are taking over my life! lmao.. well, better than all the time i would have been spending on facebook or ebay :) hehe

Going to attempt a cosey..and sock toy for tomorrow!
