Hi there,
Our girl has been in the vets for an overnight on Wednesday.
She’s been subdued since coming home, slowly building up,trust again. She’s on septrin so twice daily antibiotics at the mo,
Her eyes were ok this morning but I went out to check her and noticed a wee bald patch round her eye. It wasn’t there this morn. After her anaesthetic there was a wee bit of crustiness round her eye, I assumed from being drowsy etc.
She was ok before vets, her cage mate it ok.
Do you think this looks like a bite from her mate? Could it be stress from being at vets all night?

So I think I solved it... looks like a bit of over enthusiastic grooming by her cage mate. Just seen JC nibble round that exact eye! Princess didn’t seem to mind so do I take it that means she’s ok with it!? ( even tho she’s taken fur off )

Can you not sit JC down & tell him not to do it, m sure he will listen.

The licking of the eye and the surrounding area is a gesture of affection. They will also nuzzle an area that is not well and have on more than one occasion alerted me to an eye injury or another health problem somewhere else in the body.

The little are could be the result of a bit of crust come off with the hairs stuck in it or from excessive watering. I would not worry as long as the area is not growing and developing a whitish crust (ringworm).

Has your vet checked for an eye injury, conjunctivitis or a dental issue?

I wish! Would tell the also how much they worry me! it’s like Ive has two more kids!

She was in for an X-ray on her foot last week. She got a full check too while in the vets (spine, heart rate, ears, no arthritis...checked teeth, fur and ears.) so I'm pretty certain having seen Jc do the eye nibbling that she’s has taken off the fur. There’s a wee nick in the skin too I can see which is why I’d thought a nip before I seen her grooming her. I have seen Jc do this before to princess before vet visit.
I’ll be keeping an eye on it until Monday. We have another appt set up for a check up so can see vet about it then if it’s turned out to be a coincidence Jc is not to blame.

Bathed the eye earlier @Wiebke so there is no crusty anything so jc hopefully doesn’t feel the need to go near it.
Also checked over Jc and have her a good brush and cuddles to double make sure there is nothing on her that I’ve missed when concentrating on princess this week.

It’s v cute that they do this just don’t take her fur off! Princess is Jc’s mummy too
