Adult Guinea Pig
Sampson, one of my big boars (1.5kg and approx 3 or 3.5 years) has a lump on his back leg. The lump moves around when touched and is beneath the skin's surface. Maybe 3-4mm across.
A vet has examined the lump - but it wasn't my prefered exotics vet unfortunately. He described it as a small subcutaneous cyst (by feel) and said no treatment required, just monitor. Looked at me as if slightly loony for worrying about it.
On Simon Maddox's website blurb:-
"Lumps in the skin are also common. We tend to see abscesses, sebaceous cysts and fatty lumps most commonly. Some lumps can be managed by lancing, while the majority require surgical removal. Treatment of lumps is most successful while the lumps are small. "
Any experiences which might guide me? Take back to my prefered vet for another opinion? If Simon Maddox suggests they are better treated when small, then it makes me think that I am not mad for wanting to treat it:{, if required. Thanks.
