I was using fleece for bedding but as it's winter drying it all is driving me mad!

I'm not that keen on using woodshavings but does anyone use Aubiose and what is it made of is it as absorbant as shavings?
I have used a soft shredded straw like bedding before and it was rubbish at absorbancy.

Thanks

Ive had a free sample of aubiose and i didnt like it. I foud it quite spikey just looks like finely chopped wood. I didnt like to try it as I thoght it would be too sharp and get stuck in the paws.

I use aubiose in my hay pit. It's a hemp bedding and is good at absorbing wee and keeps the smell to a minumum. I cover it with a thick layer of hay though as otherwise as Joe gets bits stuck up his bottom when he's dragging his ar*e around. rolleyes

its basically form of hemp bedding but looks and feels like wood chips, i use it for my corn snakes as a 20kg only cost me £21 compared to packets oh hemp bedding for around £3-4 each!
not sure how absorbant it would be for piggies but its fine for my snakes and seems to soak up well when they poo but as they dont produce much liquid its hard to tell what it would be like for piggies weeing on it

One of our members milliepops uses it, and loves it, maybe PM her if she doesn't see this.

I use it here for the foster boys and visitors. It initially feels a bit sharp but once you have a layer in the cage/hutch that feeling seems to disappear. I agree with Flips though, if you have boys I would definitely put a good layer of hay down as bits can get trapped in the boys nether regions!;) I find if I pop a nice mound of hay at either end of the cages and under tunnels/igloos this seems to work well. It is very cost effective (I pay around £9ish for a large bale) and keeps smells to a minimum. It also "clumps" together when wet so if you find your piggies wee in a particular area you can easily role up the newspaper/aubiose and replace it with fresh.

I tried it but did'nt like it that much. Found it dusty and as some said, a little spikey and just not that absorbent. It also seemed to get everywhere!

I have tried practically everything now rolleyes and each time I come back to megazorb. It does'nt smell once opened, its highly, highly absorbent and not too dusty once its down. It does stick to fleece (as most things would) but is easy to knock off and it does not stick to anything it should'nt do on the guineas rear ends:))

Gets my vote every time xx>>>

:)I've just ordered a big bag of Megazorb from Farmway Online

http://www.farmway.co.uk/pet-1/small-animal-6.html

and a bag of yorkshire hay - even though I use fleece bedding I am going to make a hay loft and I thought i could use this megazorb at the bottom and in their hay tray (I'm getting fed up of washing tiny pieces of fleece/tea towels on a daily basis) - can't wait to try it out! thanks for the tip

Ive not used aubiose but I can say megazorb and finacard are both great, but finacard is half the price of megazorb and costs me only 59p a week for a Ferplast 140 cage (4 x2 c&c size) even after a week neither smell! Unlike shavings that stink!

I have been using Aubiose for a few weeks now. As others have said on initial inspection is seems quite sharp and you wouldn't think the pigs would like it. BUT mine seem quite happy with it - I've cosy cups and the like in the cage, yet they often sleep directly on the Aubiose so they must be comfortable enough.

Of all the bedding I have tried, bar Carefresh which is a lot of ££££, I have found Aubiose the best of the bunch.

Megazorb: I hated the stuff - it stank, was dusty and not very absorbant.
Wood shavings: Seems nice, is cheap, BUT is very dusty.

Now for Aubiose: Is natural, cheapish (one bag has lasted me a weeks), smells nice, seems very absorbant (all the mosture is pulled to the bottom so the top layer is dry), very little dust and most importantly the pigs seem to like it. It is not perfect, looks horrible stuff and it can get everywhere BUT for me it's the best I have found (bar Carefresh).

I've recently started using auboise, I was using wood shavings before. I like the auboise, it's absorbent and doesn't smell as much as shavings :) my girls seem to like it too.....they sleep on it even though there are fleecy cozies in their cage too. It's cheaper too, £9 for a huge bag! Thumbs up from me :)

I am also an aubiose fan! Ive had it for ages for my bunnies litter trays but only recently in the piggy cage (after giving up with fleece after 18months with it), It really is the only bedding ive tried that doesnt make me sneeze! Ive had some bad megazorb bags which sort of werent dried out enough and smelt damp and I find it unbelievably dusty and it doesnt last long...they do have loads of hay over the aubiose but there are also bare patches and mine like sleeping on it too! :)

Was looking at this or megazorb, but the problem I think I'd have is the bags are just too darn big! I don't think I'd have the room to store them
