Hi - haven't been on here for ages I am afraid due to life, work and frail piggies. But just hoping for some vibes for Colin who is admitted at the vet today for tests but is very poorly.
Have had very bad few days - last Monday our lovely Theo (5+) was put to sleep after battling for months with a gut issue (I had been supportive feeding for over 1 year), then Cheeky was put to sleep on Friday due to kidney failure (he was 7.5) and today our cuddle pig Fred was PTS due to a foot injury linked to severe arthritis and other health issues - no sensation in foot and Fred was 6.5.
So I am reeling from all of that but Cheeky's death seems to have set off actute pining / an underlying illness in his cage mate Colin who is 3. He has not eaten himself since Cheeky went to the vet on Friday. He has not poohed since Friday night. We have been on and off to emergency vet at weekend for gut stimulants and pain killer etc. I have been intensively syringe feeding since Sat am but it isn't looking good. He is at vet now for some tests and sub cut fluids. Any spare vibes for Colin would be appreciated - i can't bear to lose him as well.

BIG HUGS

I am very sorry for your big load of losses and worrying illness!

Here is our GI stasis guide, which includes a link to my thread about Pili Pala's GI stasis a year ago.
Bloat, GI Stasis ( No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

I am keeping my fingers very firmly crossed for Cheeky!

Sorry for the death of your piggies A bucket-load of positive healing vibes being sent in in Colin's direction and hugs for you. Fingers and paws crossed for you and Colin

Thanks @Wiebke for guide. Lots of info. I am getting at least 60ml of syringe feed per day but it is getting harder. Useful to read about how long it can be before you start seeing poos.

If it is any consolation for you, it was getting harder at this stage with Pili, too!

It all depends on what the underlying problem is that is obviously in play. With Pili it turned out to be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and she has spent the last year of her life on a cocktail of meds and twice daily top up feed.
Guinea pigs suffering GI stasis without anoher problem tend to bounce back pretty immediately.

All you can do is hanging in there and keeping your fingers very firmly crossed. You are doing a great job, whatever the ultimate outcome. That is all we can do. :tu:

Sorry to hear if your losses.
It's a very testing time for you. I and my girls x 5. send you lots love especially to Colin come on little chap. x

Oh my! Way too much sadness to have to deal with all at once! I am so very sorry for your losses and pain. Hopefully you can get your piggy on the right track! Sending you big hugs!

Sending healing vibes to Colin and my condolences to you. I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time with your piggy family.

So sorry to read about your losses especially Theo whom I had the pleasure of meeting. You are having a tough time just now.
Sending healing vibe wishes over to Colin.

Thanks for the thoughts and vibes everyone. Colin is home from vet and looking poorly but did a few thin straggly poos on way home in the carrier. Have got to just keep going with syringe feeds and meds and Hope he mends soon

Straggly poos are better than no poos so you’re right to keep on keeping on.

I cannot believe how painful this must be for you. I am so sorry. Big hugs and I really hope he pulls through, it sounds like you need each other right now xx

Mixed news from Colin. He has done maybe 30 dark, odd shaped poos but they are at least coming. However, bad news is that he looks rubbish, lethargic and is now not chewing syringe feed so I have had to stop for now :(.

Very please about the poo output for Colin.

Hopefully he is just not chewing because he is tired. Keep fighting little man.

Good news the poo's are coming. Sending lots of love and vibes. Sounds like the gut stims are kicking in, I would advise keeping up with them x

Sending healing vibes your way Laura. I hope he turns the corner soon. It can be quite a dramatic recovery when their guts suddenly start working.
I am so sorry that you lost your lovely older boars, Fred and Theo were both BARC piggies (,as is Colin) so have places in my heart too.) Cheeky was a lovely boy too. Xx
