We have a 4 year old guinea pig female and introduced 2 new females 12 weeks old from local breeder. 1 month in eldest one had developed sores around side / stomach and back of neck, earlier wound/sore has dried and scabbed but new ones appearing daily. not sure and now one of the smaller ones has got a larger gash / scratch on the front shoulder , have treated for mites and fungal infection but not sure if they have fought amd dont want to treat with the wrong stuff on open wounds. can you suggest anything please?

If you've already treated for the obvious things and the situation is getting worse then a vet visit is the only thing that can be recommended.

There could be so many causes of this type of problem and an inspection of the animal is necessary to diagnose and treat.

Thanks

Do they fight and cut each other though - should we seperate them or is it likely to be an infection of some kind?

I think you would have seen evidence of fighting if more sores keep appearing it sounds more likely to be something infectious
