My youngest piggy, Delilah, is roughly 14 weeks old and since we bought her three weeks ago, she has settled in nicely and is slowly building confidence to come out of hiding.

Does anyone have any advice to help boost her confidence and help her not to be so scared?

I talk with her whenever I feed my piggies and whenever I give her a cuddle I always have some nibbles so we can have a bit of bonding time.

Hi and welcome!

The biggest confidence booster and greatest source of long term happiness and health of long term happiness and health is a sow or neutered boar companion for your girl.
Guinea pigs are group animals and not wired to be on their own. They rely on constant round the clock company and stimulation from their mates. Guinea pigs have a far more intricate communication and interaction than previously assumed, as recent studies have shown.
As a human, you can simply not fill as you are not with her around the clock and you can never reach that level of communication and instinctive understanding. What do you get out of a companion? The enjoyment of the vocal interaction between your guinea pigs that makes them so endearing and unique, and two guinea pigs to love and interact with instead of just one that relies on you for round the clock company every single day of the next 5-7 years. Can you provide that?

Thank you for your tips! I already have another guinea pig who is 3 years old. They both get on well together. I bought Delilah in order to help comfort Nutmeg, my 3 year old. I will check out piggy whispering non the less :)

Thank you! That is great. Give Delilah time to take her cues from Nutmeg. She will come round a lot quicker than that do not have an older piggy showing them the ropes.

The piggy whispering tricks are quite effective; especially when dealing with teenage boundary pushing as long as you combine the love bit with the telling off bit, the way the clever social enabler piggies do. ;)
