Only asking as my OH thinks I am mad :)) As 4 nights a week we dont get in from work till 11pmish I always give the pigs a dish of veg and re-fill their hay but its dark I leave a night light kinda thing on for them lol Its actually an airfreshner with a option to have the light on it too rolleyes

I leave the TV on for Merlin if I go out at the weekend (during the day)

He particularly enjoys snooker and repeats of Friends :))

i have not noticed yet :( mine do stick together and love my rabbit :D the little one is actully starting to find his feet he moved out from his hide first with out daddy to see the rabbit, they are still worried about me but are getting better

yep, Tallulah loves music so i always turn the radio the second i get up before she has her veggies while i go get showered etc..

oh towards the\ piggies sorry miss read it lol, nope :( i talk to them thats bout it lol

I have one of those light timer switches so that the light comes on when it starts to go dark - everyone thinks i'm crazy!:(|):(|)

i dont put night lights on but i do sing to them....badly but they seem to like it!

Mine always have a little night light on in the room, it's very very very dim, but I am happier knowing they are not in pitch blackness. x

The pigs are in my bedroom and I always have a nightlight on, so they always do too. Personally I don't like to leave them in complete darkness.

Mine have the light on as soon as it gets dark...but then it gets turned off when we go to bed :)

Oh I'm so glad to learn its not just me I leave the light and tv on for them.

They love sex and the city and come out and watch it when its on LOL

They like the football to the other week they actually started wheeking at the telly when the crowd were cheering it was brillant:))

Mine just started wheeking at Bryn singing James Blunt in Gavin and Stacey - very funny!

I leave the light on when a pregnant one is due to pop!

I leave a light on if in the house but not in front room for them & also have set the heating to come on for a couple of hours midday so they don't get cold! people think I am mad and say they have fur and stuff in their cages to keep them warm & i'm like well a couple of times they have had cold feet when I have picked them up & I'm not having my babies being cold! :))

Oh no i leave the heating on for them as well, I wouldnt want them to get cold in the day why I'm out at work.

My work collegues have started calling me the mad guinea pig lady and tell everyone that comes into the office about my home zoo

Most of my piggies are housed outside, but I always tuck them up for the night when I get in from work.
Night veggies, more hay and covered with tarpaulin to stop the cold air getting in.

I always talk to them aswell, so lovely when they recognise your voice and respond to it.

aww i think we all love our piggies. i have storage heaters at home so I'm lucky they give out heat at 2pm and 2am so its always warmish :))

We have the heating on, a light on from 7am-3am the next morning, cage near the dinner table so i sit and talk to him and sit and obsess over him going "AWW LOOK MUM HE IS CLEANING LOOK LOOK LOOK!" or "DAD LOOK HE IS DRINKING!" You'd think the excitedness would wear off after half a year but apparently not. He gets sung to, talked to, likes hearing the TV and near dinner time i make the wheeking noise and he joins in and we talk to each other :P

My pigs live in the kitchen. When it gets dark, the light is on when we are in the kitchen washing up or cooking but then when we are in the lounge we turn the light out, my pigs are used to it and because of that, can probably see in the dark quite good lol and they go to sleep too. But they are not in the kitchen all through the evening. i bring them out for a cuddle.

Would be nice when the summer comes, it won't get dark so early. YAY!

LOL yeah, i can be that crazy with my pigs. I sing rubbish to them and sometimes talk high pitched LOL which makes cookie come up to the front of her cage or maisey tweek

When they are at my parents' they have a standard lamp on a timer that comes on in winter. I don't have that here, but I leave the light on for them. I leave radio on if I am not going to be out for long but I am reluctant to leave the telly on for them when I am out because of fire risk. But they do enjoy telly under supervision. The other day they were all gazing up at the blank screen, waiting for it to come on.

It would appear that Nigel loves Will Young. When he was performing on TV a while ago Nigel was singing along with him (and Nigel doesn't sing that much). Anyway a few weeks later Will Young was on TV again - and Nigel was at it again......

I have the tv on when they are in the living room having cuddles or floor time and I always have some sort of animal programmes on. One day animal hospital came on with 27 guinea pigs being rescued so they were squealing and Ani & Abbi were shouting back at the tv :)):))

Heheheh. This thread is cute. I leave a night light on for my piggies. During the day I sometimes play country music for them when I am not home!

My girls live in our brick out building so I shut them up gradually at night. When I get home from work, they'll have their tea and I'll close the door so it is only slightly open. Then at 7 ish I'll go back to them and pull the towel down over the front of their hutch and close the door completely (depending on the weather). Then I go out again at about 10pm to give them their snugglesafe. Of course, I talk to them all the time and in the summer, the routine changes as they do not go to bed as early :))

A few years ago I had a little machine that played "natural sounds" - rainforest, waves, birdsong etc. You choose which of 6 you want and it will play for 15 mins. I used to set that before I went to work.

I make sure that if i come in from work and its dark i make sure the dimmer switch is on the lowest point before switching it on so i dont hurt their eyes... rolleyes:))

And then turn it up slowly so they get used to the light...Lol
