Hi there, just wondering if there is anybody here who has a skinny pig? I'm allergic to animal hair, but would like to test if I would be ok with a hairless guinea pig. I am in London, but can travel. And of course will bring wine, sweets etc as a thank you if I can come and test my allergy! Hope to hear from you soon! Many thanks in advance! :-)

Have you tried contacting any rescues local to you to ask the same question?

I have skinnies but I'm in Manchester and I also have haired piggies. So I don't think this would work for you.

Many thanks for your kind reply! Unfortunately wouldn't work,as needs to be just skinnies, o haired ones, to see if am allergic. But thank you so much for offering! :-)

Unfortunately I couldn't check for allergies at the rescue,as there would be so much hairy guinea pigs hair around. But thanks for the suggestion.

Skinnies aren't entirely hairless. Some might have very little (Cam had a bit of a wispy nose and that's all) and some have a lot more (Bann had a very furry nose and very hairy feet when he was younger). If it's specifically the hair that's the issue then I think skinnies might still be a problem.

I have a skinny pig but he lives with a furry pig
my skinny pig does have fur on his nose, round his mouth and it’s a coarse type fur

Thank you Roselina! I think I would need to visit somebody with only a skinny pig to see if am allergic,as teh presence of hairy pig might cause me allergic symptoms. But thank you so much for offering, that's so kind! Have a great day! :-)

Thank you for your kind reply! I have been told that just a little bit of hair might be ok, so would absolutley love to test this :-)

I wish I could help, but I lost my last skinny a few months ago.

Thing is, skinnies don't come into rescues often and when they do they don't often get adopted out again, there's a risk of intentional breeding because hey, they're naked guinea pigs! It means finding someone with skinnies is hard, finding someone with just skinnies is going to be much harder. As far as I'm aware there's none of our users with only skinnies.

It's not that I'm trying to put you off, but you might be looking for someone that doesn't exist.

The Rescue I use won't let skinnies be adopted. They keep them in the Rescue.
When Wood Green bonded Geoff with Freddy( my skinny pig) they were very careful to make sure i understood how to look after a skinny pig ….especially temperature and fleece/vet bed - they were very diligent in their after care checks on us
