Hi there,
does anybody have a soft spot for older piggies? If you do, then at RSPCA Bryn Y Maen we have a more mature gentleman looking for his forever home. Gus was removed from a multi-animal household and is approx. three years old. As you can see from his photo , he is a very handsome chap:love: and just wants some company! He is on the rehoming pages on the forum. He is not neutered. Boar dating is offered at the centre.

I haven't got any oldies anymore :( But I do love golden oldies, we have a golden oldie rescue dog. He's gorgeous!

Aww oldies are great, and at 3 he's hardly what I'd call old really! I hope he finds a home really soon!

Sometimes with rescues I feel what may put people off older guys available for bonding is that when you've got a single guy and you're looking for a new friend more often than not its due to bereavement, some people might not want to have to risk going through that again so soon. Daddypig certainly had reservations when we were looking at Ludo (approx 4 at time of adoption) as we'd lost both Tango and Cash in very painful circumstances in one year and he didnt want to go through it again.... we convinced him and now Ludo is such a daddy's boy!

I am a big fan of golden oldies although I count 3 years as the peak of a piggy life! It is a pity that so many people think that an adult piggy has already got one foot in the grave and is not worth adopting. :(

My Fflur and Ffraid were both 4 years old when I rehomed them and Bryn Oscar and Mali were both 5 - Mali was with me for 2 1/2 years and Ffraid over 3 years. That is longer than some of my younger piggies have lived! I have rehomed quite a number of 3 year olds, latest Iola and Carwyn this year.

I love older piggies; they know who they are and what they want, and deeply appreciate your good care. Most are great personalities and some are real surprises, enjoying life in the fast lane (at least as fast as their arthritis allows...)

Bryn, the pining old widowed gent, turned out to be a perfect rogue and a very canny escape artist with a zest for popcorning and for winding up the other husboars - he made me laugh regularly with his antics which befit a 6 month old, not a 6 year old! He definitely packed a lifetime of fun into the year he spent as head of my then Elderlies group. The length of his stay was immaterial; having had him here and being left with lots of precious memories has enriched my own life immeasurably.

Wishing Gus all the best!

Hope he finds his forever home soon! What a beautiful lad

aww, he's still in his prime! he's lovely :luv: i adopted mollie last year when she was 3yrs 3months old approx :luv:

I love older animals, I adopted a 3 year old and 4 year old boar pairing once, sadly the 4 year old was only with me for 2 weeks before he passed over the bridge and I had to find a new friend for the 3 year old.
I also adopted an elderly cat who had the most amazing character.
This week my garden has been adopted by a very elderly cat who probably decided it's a haven of peace, she arrived 2 days after the schools broke up so I have suspicions that she lives with children! She arrives around 8am and goes off about 6pm I assume for her tea.

The youngsters are amusing, with their enthusiasm and their popcorning, but I also prefer an older piggy in truth. And I would if I could adopt him. x

I thought this thread was about music :lol!: what a lovely Golden Oldie he is .. Hope he finds a good home soon xx

Thanks Wiebke. Gus might well be older than 3, it is an approximation on Bryn y Maen's part. I agree that people should not be put off any animal because of their age too. I hope that anybody seeing him will look past that and give him the chance he deserves❤️. He could make an ideal companion for a newly weaned baby boar.
Will send you the details of our Furry Fun Day on 23rd August. Hope all your tribe are well. Carolyn xx

I don't think three is old either as Willow is 3 but she seems younger than kiwi a lot of the time!
Hope Gus finds his forever home soon.
